  • balls for simulators that wont mark clubs

This is pretty specific but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice.

I'm looking for some type of golf ball, practice or otherwise that wouldn't mark up clubs. Let me explain.

I was fitted for a set of PXG irons recently and they felt great during fitting. When they got here, I hated them. I was hitting center maybe 1 out of 4 swings. I suspect the swing weights were off, plus the grips were way big (I think from extra wraps when I requested no extra wraps.) I never gamed them. I only hit them indoors with the ST. I returned them, and they had noticeable marks on the clubs. Particularly the 7 iron, which I probably swung several hundred times. I'm trying to get PXG to waive the restocking fee but I doubt that will happen.

So I'm in the market again. I could get fitted all over again but I feel like I've swung enough clubs lately to know what I'm looking for. I'd love to order directly from a company, but many companies have a return policy that says clubs must be new and in unsued condition. Well if I had some balls that I could hit indoors that could give me decent feedback but not mark up the clubs, that would be great.

I could go get fit again I know. Which I may do. There is a Club Champion near me.

Balls alone shouldn’t cause wear to your club face. Urethane and surlyn are much softer than metal. Chemical residue and white buildup may deposit on the surface from said material/s, but won’t scratch/dent the face. Only dirt, sand and hard foreign objects that get between the ball and the club face will cause noticeable wear patterns. You likely have sand and debris in your hitting surface.
