I was just wondering how the SIM room would help as I seem to have plateau'd these days despite taking some lessons once in a while and spending quite some time on the regular driving range.

My opinion on this subject is it depends on how often you can play/practice real golf. If you can get to the course or the range a few times a week then a simulator has little or no effect other then keeping your golf muscles supple during the winter when you can't play much if at all.
Simulator golf and real golf are night and day different particularly in the areas of short game and variability of lies.Hitting from a perfectly level surface, off a mat, may allow you to work on your mechanics to some extent but real golf is a lot more then playing swing thoughts.
I mostly use my setup from mid November to Mid March. In the middle, i.e. Jan-Feb we usually go to the Caribbean for a few weeks. When I arrive I'm scoring like crap for a day or two until i adjust to real lies, slopes, wind, grain etc. The only thing the sim has done for me in that case is keep my golf muscles in shape so I don't pull anything.and have to spend inordinate time at the bar.killing the pain. .

I use a ProTee and because it is based on sensing the club path it has been an excellent tool for making changes to my swing. I am still a high handicapper but my swing and game has definitely benefited.
Changed a 3 degree outside in to a consistent one degree inside out swing in one (half) season.
Like many of the other posts have said, your results may vary, but in my case they worked very well.
Ended up winning the Low Net on the annual old guys tour, this year.
