    Does anyone have a working solution for the high launch and crazy distance with the wedges? I've read through the forums and found a lot of discussion. Couldn't find a solution that actually works. About 4-5 times per round my lob wedge with go straight up and travel about 130-150yds when trying to hit it about 90yds.

    It seems to work better when I drive the shot in low. But don't always have the option if there pin is tucked.

    What is happening is the club is passing the sensors before the ball and thus you have increased clubhead speed. It happens and only changing the shot shape will help that for protee. A limitation yes, during a tournament just take a rewind and move on.

      Yeah I figured it was the clubhead causing the issue. Wasn't sure if someone found a workaround. Is there a way to turn club head speed off for pitching and just use ball data?
      Thanks for the reply

        the ball track can't tell if it is the ball or the club passing over it. the workaround is to tell the system to ignore ball speed and use "x" percentage of club speed as ball speed when launch angle is greater than "y" and you are within "z" yards (or maybe it's in meters, I can't remember) from the pin.

        Chipping_use_clubspeed=True
        Chipping_ballspeed_factor=65
        Chipping_minimum_launch_angle=1
        Chipping_distance=32

        Pitching_use_clubspeed=True
        Pitching_ballspeed_factor=75
        Pitching_minimum_launch_angle=1
        Pitching_distance=41

          How do you know all this. Very impressive!

          I owned a protee system for a good while.

        I tried these settings last night, may have helped a little, but still had a few rewind shots during my round.
        thanks for information

          those are the recommended settings but what works for your swing will probably be different. I would try to find out at what launch angle you start to have problems and tweak the settings accordingly.

        U suggest raising minumun launch number to match my swing?

          you mentioned having issues with a 90 yard wedge. I would hit a bunch of 90 yard wedge shots and note the launch angles which result in crazy long shots. let's say you see that you get crazy results when launch is greater than 35. I would try setting the pitching distance to 82 meters which is about 90 yards and pitching_minimum_launch to 35. if you contact protee in sure they would be able to help more.

            I'll try that.

              I wasn't able to completely eliminate this problem when I had a protee system but it was a lot better after adjusting these settings.when I would hit my lob wedge a little fat, I was more likely to get a flier.

                I'm left handed. Seems like when I got it a little high and to the left it occurs more often

                  Becoming very frustrating now that I'm actually going thru the Q-school process. The problem with the short game is the wedge passes over the ball track sensor before the ball as has been stated. So far the best idea I've seen so far is to not let the unit read ball speed but instead to use 65% or 75% of your club head speed; however, this assumes a perfectly hit ball.

                  Can Protee use the putting sensors to calculate ball speed instead of the ball track when within a certain number of yards from the flag or as a double check? I've done some testing in the debug mode and the putting sensors do pick up the ball as long as you hit it straight. Seems like now you'd have multiple times to nail down the ball speed, either do the calculation as time from point sensor A to B or base it on the time it takes for ball shadow to pass completely over sensor. Either way their are multiple times to double-check the calculation generated by the ball track.

                    Has anyone found a useful solution to high launch angle shots or is this just a hardware limitation we have to live with? The ones I have seen in this and similar threads help a bit, but the main issues is still there

                      What’s worked best for me is not having the putting light on,I’ve put a switch in that I just turn on when putting,that way the ball streak is much clearer

                    I'm not sure how that would work. Would not the sensor still see the club passing the front sensors before the ball on higher launch(30 Degrees +) shots?

                      Before I put the switch in I tested it by covering the light and testing my wedges worth a try

                      Hmmm, interesting and I will try that.

                      I did try turning the putting light off and it did not work for me.
                  Working...
