My screen is 99% done... Finally. I'm going to put a net on the right side of my screen and then a blackout drop cloth on the other side for the background of the ball. My question is, how far back from the screen do I need to run the blackout background? do I need to run it from the screen the whole way back past the tee from the camera lens, or can I bring it back only so far? The tee is 7 ft from the screen with the camera about two feet in front of the tee. In the picture you will notice a hot tub. It comes back six feet from the screen. ideally I would like to run the drop cloth at an angle from the top left corner of the screen to the top left corner of the hot tub as you're looking at it from the camera picture...at about a 45-degree angle. Do you think this would work? I really don't want to run the cloth to the top of my screen and back behind the hitting mat (floor to ceiling) bc it will make my space seem cramped up. So, that's why I was just thinking of having the cloth behind the actual ball path at an angle but I'm just not sure how far back from the screen I should go with it....like where does the ball streak begin at in reference to the tee? Thanks

It looks like you are placing the camera on the right side of the room. Because of the sliding door, that is probably a good idea. I believe you are going to want to put something on those glass doors...either blackout our curtains. If you can eliminate the outside light from the sliding doors, you may not need blackout on the opposite side. If you cut off all the lights, is the room completely dark? I don't see anything of the hot tub side of the room that would require you to need a blackground cloth.

Thank you Gene. I do have blackout curtains that will be going over those doors. All of the lights are on dimmers and I will start with trying zero light and see if it works without a blackout background. The camera is just sitting in place for reference right now but I will follow your suggestions and take a few screenshots soon... hopefully. Does it feel natural to hit in the dark just using the sensor Matt light? It would definitely be ideal if I don't have to blackout half the gazebo with the background blackout.

I varies by room...but you will be amazed how much light the spot light over your sensor will put out. I could play in my room with only the sensor light on with no problem....you'll find that the sensor light with the screen lit up will be more than enough light..

That's encouraging and thank you. I WILL most definitely be posting back, on all of this first build/ProTee setup once it's complete...with pics and first-goer advice; which, could be priceless to the next diy'er. Thanks Gene. I've spent the last 2hrs looking for the DIY equivalent of the ProTee recommended halogen/screw-in/non-track. They told me today to consult with a local lighting specialist. Unfortunately, we don't have one. Any links you can think of..? I saw something on here weeks ago but now I can't find it. I'm amazon & googling myself crazy...and the 3 different types from Lowe's yesterday aren't gonna cut it.. ..too wide/not bright enough (50 watt/spot) of a beam over the sensor mat and leaking on my screen..Last edited by DejaVu; 12-17-2019, 05:23 AM.
