I'm not really sure why but I'm not finding this course as easy as some. I haven't shot a good score on it all week. I can't seem to find the right spots on the greens. I don't know. I played my first competitive round yesterday with the straight putting turned on. As a ST user it really changed the experience for me. I felt like I had a chance to make a putt even though I didn't really make much. I'll be able to put more focus on speed moving forward which needs work at this point in time. I couldn't be happier with the change though.

Yes the straight putting certainly takes the guess work out and makes it just about line and pace, just need to work on those two aspects of my game now. 1000% better and makes the game much more enjoyable.

This course is a killer if you're on the wrong part of the green. I think I had like 8-10 3 putts and 4 putt. Needless to say I was on the wrong part of the green a lot.

Mthunt nailed it....... If you are close to the pin on your approach..... 8-12 feet. You have a great chance of dropping it. If you are leaving yourself 30+ feet on every putt, good luck.

Well round one didn't go to plan. I was 12 over thru 6 holes due to a sore shoulder (I think I need a full body transplant to get rid of all my aches and pains). I had to take a rewind on the second tee as I struck the ball wall and it registered something like 30 mph ball speed and travelled about 20 yards. Hopefully the second round will be better and I will have to play tknotts ghost ball to witness the magical 59

That's a good idea about playing the ghost ball.

Awesome - wonder if I call Pine Valley and let them know I own their course record in sim play with a 59... perhaps they'd let me play the course IRL? Might have to record that call for y'all.

Also, want to qualify this 59 with... I haven't installed the patch to put on straight putts. I don't have the same issue others seem to have with really crooked putts, but I'm interested to see what I can do when I turn it on.

read the TGC Patch 3.02 thread, I turned it on today and played a practice round at the GC of Houston. Will definitely assist the short putts and will likely over time make me lethal from inside 30 ft with minimal break. I'm usually not outside 30 ft. Going for 58 or better with the patch on.

Doesn't change the fact that we can also use it to our advantage and only have to worry about the distance. I'm not thinking it's going to create a large benefit, but if we find a course with flattish greens, my 59 is going to have some company.

Someone suggested that the patch could bring about the possibility of going to 3 foot gimmes. Something to think about. The ole knee knocker effect sounds fun in my opinion.

Tkotts your 59 is pretty safe from me unless they give us straight hitting too. 😁

I haven't tried the patch yet but I'm curious for sure. It only happens once every few rounds but a 7' putt that shoots 6-8" right is irritating.

Too bad ST can't just fix "their" problem. Kind of a shame that putts will automatically go straight !?!?! That just doesn't sound right, Don't want to give people even more of a reason to jump to PG........I know I am "looking"

Tkotts last 13 putts were 0.0 so it was lucky that a 2.0 or 3..0 wasn't thrown in there. So if the patch was installed the result would have been the same. Time will tell if the patch is a big advantage or a little one. Great round Tkotts...... it would have been a shame to add 2 or 3 strokes on there with a random 3.0

I thought gc2 didn't throw in the random 2 or 3. I must have misread the data on that. I know the sky trak does but looked like the gc2 data was good. You would think for the money it would be anyway.

Currently the patch is for anyone who wants to use it. Not just for ST
We will be monitoring the scores to try to keep a fair playing field. I know that it is very difficult to keep putting within 0.5 degrees. On a 35 foot putt, if a 0.0 putt is dead center, a 0.5 putt misses the hole. We may have to make it mandatory or come up with another solution. It is clear that ST users need this to keep sane, but is it an unfair advantage???? We'll see.

Sorry, thought I read it was a fix aimed towards Skytrak users.
I'd be fine without it but a rewind for a drastically offline short putt should be deamed acceptable, assuming the player has integrity and doesn't abuse the rewind.

make it mandatory to use the patch? Ok. I'm only going to make one more comment on this subject then I will leave it alone. I get it that sky trak putting sucks. that is really too bad. We had no choice but to allow this for now because they are a big part of the community. I have a ProTee, we are a minority. It used to be a common sim on this forum. Most of you sky trak owners would not even know this and I dont really care. I read so many posts "sky trak vs trackman accuracy" and the like. I see so many protee owners that jumped ship to gc2 and now I see sky trak owners doing the same. I get it, it's easy to set up and a good product for the money. I would take my ProTee any day, great club data and unbelievable ball data. Yeah, it takes some time to set up. Sure, it has it's shortcomings. mainly short pitches with the club face passing the ball. I've learned I cant hit some shots like high flops with ProTee. I dont ask for concessions for that but it's all good, for the most part I can work around it. I am good with this patch for sky trak owners but i do not want this tour to get to the point of the Rory McIlroy tour. We had a post a week ago about sky trak putting and a week later and all the sudden we have no push or pull's. Now we have everybody using this patch because they dont want other's having an unfair advantage. It's just an effing sim tour.
My concern is whats next? If we can transform this thing in a week, what's next? Chipping sucks? Spin is over penalizing? All shots under 60 yards will be zeroed out? I know I'm making a big deal out of this but I do not want this tour to become a joke. I'm good with just playing these great courses on my own but this tour makes me give a sh-- and finish rounds and accept the results rather than replays like I give my son and brothers.
I will just leave you with this. Yes, Sky Trak is a launch monitor, not a sim like the ProTee (though protee is apples to oranges to sky trak, it is just as apple to oranges as gcq, and closer to gcq than sky trak), but when they started charging you yearly for simulation thats when they become responsible for the whole experience and putting is a big part of that. If you guys dont hold them accountable for that, thats your choice but I will never download a patch that takes any part of the skill out of this game.
                Peace out.

I agree ...why do you think players are jumping ship to PG ? ? , this would not be going on over there... PG would not make a fix for ST.......that takes away from the game. Feel sorry for ST users, but let them "fix" their problem...... hopefully this will be temporary or I can see this going downhill .............. straight, but downhill........lol

PG had already implemented 0 Ha, which was why people were going over to it. Not many people really hit putts that are 6 inches offline, which the hardware was reading. Try the new patch with 3 foot gimmies. I think you will realize it still difficult to hole putts, especially when you miss that 4 footer for par!
                Working...
