    Smoke Rise Country Club

Hey Wiz, nice choice on the course this week. To me it very much had the feel of a real course with real scoring.

Thanks real tight course. Some fairways appeared to be 6 yards wide. I enjoyed playing 4 iron off the tee for a change.

Agreed. This course was not "bomb and gouge". Took some thought into each tee shot and if you hit it in the trees, you were certainly lucky to just punch out similar to what you would see on a real course. Kudos to the course designer on this one for an accurate simulation.

This is listed as a Lidar course in the course directory, which I certainly believe.

It is a LiDAR recreation of my home club, Smoke Rise, on the east side of Atlanta. Glad you guys enjoyed it. It definitely beats you up if you aren't hitting the ball straight. It isn't super long so it has to protect itself in other ways!

Elevations killed me. I couldn’t get the distances right. I was stripe show all round and would be dead at the pin and long or dead at the pin and short. Several 3 putts did me in. I enjoyed it but wouldn’t like walking it.

Emory University hosts an invitational golf tournament here each year and we have to place carts to shuttle between a few holes because its just too much to walk (2->3, 12->13).

I went in a state/ provincial championship once in Muskoka. There were some carts on tee 1 and was like ‘weird’. By the 5th I was like this is BS. Craziest walk ever. Course was Lake Joseph GC.

Have you played wolf creek? We’ve got family in Atlanta and I thought that was a pretty nice course. That would be a good one for a sim course from what I remember.

I've played the one near Hartsfield-Jackson a few times. For some reason I always ran into weird police roadblocks or some sketchy activity going on.. I guess those surrounding neighborhoods are questionable. I did like the course though.
