  • Club selection and shot recording

I just started playing in the ProTee United tournaments. I'm not sure what shot recording is used for, but it makes me wonder if I should be setting the club to the club I actually use. I always ignore the club suggestions, which I did for the Farmer's Insurance tournament. For example, TGC might think I'm hitting a 5 wood when I'm really hitting a hybrid. Does this matter?

Is there actually someplace in TGC to review shot stats? I haven't found any, which is why I don't bother setting which club I'm using.

    Thanks,
    Vin

It only matters if you care about looking back through your shots. When shot recording is on, it archives the data for every shot you hit and notes which club was used to hit that shot. So if 5-iron was selected, it will show it as a 5-iron in the archives. If you want to keep all those archives accurate, you should always change the club suggestion to what you are actually hitting. If you don't care about looking at your shot history then it doesn't matter.

To see your shot history, click on your name on the leaderboard to pull up your scorecard. Then click on "player profile." Once inside your player profile, scroll down a little and click on "recorded tour shots" or "recorded shots (non tour)" if you want to see shots from non-tournament play. (I'm talking about the leaderboard on the website, not the one in the game).

(You can also get to your player profile by clicking on "Tour Players" on the TGC Tours home page and then typing in your name)
