  • Recess Protee VX, possible?

I have almost finished building my custom sim room and reached the milestone of mounting the Protee VX today.

Realised my projector calculations may have been compromised by the amount the VX hangs low from the ceiling and will push my projector lower than I anticipated in order to avoid casting a shadow.

However had an epiphany when I realised I could actually make a cut out in the roof and recess the VX about 4 to 5". (Not too late to do and best done now before turf is laid later this week)

Wondering if anyone knows if there is any reason it cannot be done. I don't expect the cameras to be compromised in any way as they will still be below the ceiling line.

I will put this to the Protee VX team also for a response.

I am wondering the same thing for a different reason. My ceiling is ~8'8", and it should be mounted above 9'. So can I just recess it a few inches? The joists I'm mounting it on run parallel to where the unit would be, so it could fit.

I did this with my QED. As long as the cameras can see the hitting area, you're fine.

This guy looks to have done just that and he didnt mention any issues.

In a temperature controlled room this may not be a valid concern, but I'd check for the location of cooling vents and allow for as much "breathing room" as possible.

I heard back from Protee and they confirmed as chicub15 said; as long as the room is temp controlled and the VX is ventilated, all is fine.
So I proceeded and feel much happier now as I think it looks way less intrusive.

It will now have zero effect on the projected image. (Waiting on delivery on Benq LK936st next week).

looks great - much cleaner than surface mounted and some bonus errant shot protection as well.

This looks great. We are in the process of building a room as well. I am investing in the same Protee VX. But we have the opposite problem, we made 12 ft ceilings. Could you tell me what you used on your ceiling? Also could you give me the specifics on your double spotlight?

As long as the cameras can see the ball and club you are good to go.

Beautifully done and a superb result aesthetically.
