  • I hate the Protee VX so far!

I'm sitting here after a good part of a day mounting things, running wires, hooking up computers etc. and I get within minutes of trying this thing out and I get the message:

    VX CONNECTION FAILED
The following steps may help to resolve this issue:
    1. Restart the VX with the red power switch on the back.
    2. Double check your VX cable connections.
    3. Accept the admin pop-up if prompted when connecting

The unit is clearly plugged in and running. My computer shows a device plugged into a USB 3.0 port. I'm on a fairly new gaming PC that meets all their specs and tried the (very limited) troubleshooting on the Protee website. My computer shows the gigabit to USB 3.0 adapter plugged into a USB 3.0 port in settings and goes on and off if I plug in or remove it.

You would thing the error message would give me a little more input on why the connection failed.

    Anyone else have this issue?

It's unfortunate that your experience with the VX has led to such frustration. However, I believe your opinion might change once you resolve this connection issue. There was a case where someone discovered an internal cable had come loose during transit, but with a little help from Protee, they got it working perfectly. It would be best to contact Protee for assistance, as nearly everyone else seems satisfied with their Protee VXs.

Please reach out to our support department. We won't be able to provide support through the forums.

If you systems turns out to be a DOA, then we will replace it really quick.

There is a bug reporting tool in ProTee Labs. Report the bug and our development team will be able to check the log files.
Our support team is available during weekdays through online chat, 24 hours a day, on https://proteesupport.com. They will be able provide remote support as well.

Report the issue to our helpdesk via email: support@protee-united.com . You will receive a helpdesk ticket number when we received your request for support.

I contacted support last night and received a message that they would respond within 48 hours, so asked here if anyone else had the same issue. Support responded this morning to try the normal stuff listed on the support page, which I tried about 20 times last night already. This thing took weeks to receive so hopefully they are tested before they ship and it's not DOA.

I did read about the guy that had cables inside that were disconnected out of the box, but I'm a bit hesitant to open it up and go poking around. Really want to start hitting some balls...

Sounds like they're sending me a new one. Bummer that I have to wait but appreciate the reply on a Saturday.

Oh no! Sorry to hear this.

was looking at Protee v a Uneeklr eye xo for just $500 more than the VX and I think you’ve helped make up my mind. Hope it gets sorted for you.

The new one they sent works, and works well!

good to hear that they fixed it and it was relatively quick - did they say what was wrong with the old one or has it not been sent back yet?

Assuming these units are qc'd and working before leaving the factory, it does feel like a proportion these units suffer during transit so may need to be more resilient internally or need better packaging or both.

They thought it was damaged in transit but didn't say what would have been damaged. It wouldn't connect to the computer.

I had the same thing happen with mine. One of the connections inside the unit had come loose. It was taped to try and hold it but international transit and UPS/Fedex can do a number on things.

Glad they took care of you as they did for me. If I were Protee though I'd be figuring out a way to engineer a more sturdy connection to prevent a whole bunch of return freight and customs costs.

They had me open mine up as well, but there were no loose connections. I had read your post when I was having trouble and was hoping it would be as simple as a network cable or something coming loose.

It's a mystery to me why they don't safely ship a container of these over on a boat and let someone like Carl's place act as a wholesaler. That seems a lot more efficient than shipping one at a time.

Were your issues resolved? I bought mine second hand but didn't have any of the issues you had. Was a night and day difference compared to the Mevo Plus for short chips and putting. Mevo Plus was good for full shots that were straight-ish. If you hit one too much to your inside and it gets blocked out by your body those wouldn't read. The only non-reads I get with the ProTee VX are if you bring your club over the ball and then hit it before it is ready.
