  • I hate the Protee VX so far!

I'm sitting here after a good part of a day mounting things, running wires, hooking up computers etc. and I get within minutes of trying this thing out and I get the message:

    VX CONNECTION FAILED
The following steps may help to resolve this issue:
    1. Restart the VX with the red power switch on the back.
    2. Double check your VX cable connections.
    3. Accept the admin pop-up if prompted when connecting

The unit is clearly plugged in and running. My computer shows a device plugged into a USB 3.0 port. I'm on a fairly new gaming PC that meets all their specs and tried the (very limited) troubleshooting on the Protee website. My computer shows the gigabit to USB 3.0 adapter plugged into a USB 3.0 port in settings and goes on and off if I plug in or remove it.

You would thing the error message would give me a little more input on why the connection failed.

    Anyone else have this issue?

Same thing happened to mine I just received a week ago.

I don't think it is an external packaging issue as the box and interior styrofoam packaging was not damaged.

I wonder if they need some additional packaging inside the unit ( my new PC was packaged that way ) to prevent connections comming loose (though it is unclear if this is the problem with my unit)

Cannot connect to VX. Spend a total of 3 hours with 3 different tech support people, tried everything
    • USB connection
    • direct Ethernet port
    • different ethernet cable
    • update Protee labs
    • downgrade Protee labs to a much earlier stable version
    • downloaded all missing MS Visual C++ redistributable versions
    • reset network connections
    • used different computer
    • pinged VX IP address (from every connection usb and eth and different PC)
    • went through logs ( I wish there have a verbose mode setting for the logs)
in the end they determined it was a hardware issue, so now I am sending it back to protee and have to wait for a new unit (hopefully they don't just sent me the same unit back)

I hope this get resolved soon, as I had to remove my old protee (5 year old unit that was still working, hence me buying another protee) to make way for the new one and now I have NO sim to work with and its snowing...

    I guess I'll go skiing ...

Will update if and when this gets resolved.

Just not working with TGC 2019, won't connect. GSPro works fine though. May have to call customer support again.
