  • Swing Camera Flickering

I promise I searched and didn't see any related posts/resolutions.

I am a new VX owner and stoked! Massive upgrade from the original Skytrak!!

I'm curious how others have setup their swing cameras (these are the ones that came with the VX). If I connect them directly to my PC, the image is fine. However, the cables aren't long enough to place them where I need them. I purchased a 25ft USB extension cable, but when I use those the image flickers so much so that it's unusable. I'm assuming it's because of the distance of the cable, power/packet loss, etc....but curious if others have encountered this, and if so what is the fix? I tried changing a few of the settings but that didn't have an impact.

My PC is a 1yr gaming PC and they are connected to USB 3 ports (the blue ones).

BTW - I mounted mine on a slide so I could move it a bit left/right to accommodate both lefties and righties in my space. I'm planning to post either a video or pics soon to share how I did it. Works great and was relatively cheap!

    Appreciate the help!

You will need to use a USB Extension cable with an active repeater to boost the signal. Also connect one camera to the front and one to the back of your computer to make sure both are not on the same "internal" USB hub.

Please post the info on the slider for the camera. I need this to accommodate the DTL camera for R/L palyers.

This happens with mine if it's plugged into a USB without enough power. I tried a powered repeater and it helped but my PC has two USB ports that are better than the rest and when plugged in to those ports cams don't flicker.

Purchased some active USB extension cables and now works perfectly. Thanks for the tip about using a different set of ports. When I had them both plugged into the back, one of the cameras as still flickering a little bit. However, switching it to the top ports resolved it.
