  • Distances are short, particularly wedges and irons

    Hey all,
I've had the VX for about a week now and really love this thing. My buddies came over and were blown away!

I'm a little frustrated that my distances are well short of reality. I'm a decent player and use a Garmin S62 watch so I have a pretty high confidence level in knowing how far my wedges and low/mid irons go. But with the VX they are all about a club (8-10yds) short. I've upped the temp to 85* and the altitude to 2,000ft but it's still quite short. I'm in Northern Virginia which is only about 320ft altitude.

It's particularly frustrating during game play in GSPro.

I saw a post about a year ago on this, but curious if others have tips or suggestions beside continuing to bump up the altitude?

Distances will be different with the different software. Protee is just sending the raw numbers to GSPro and then the distance is calculated. Maybe your mat is giving spin numbers that are causing the low distance.

I have a similar issue with my VX, but like you I still think it is a fine system and I will not trade it for anything. In my case, the swing speed is a bit low as is the ball speed compared to a fitting session I had wtih Trackman 4, That ball speed of course also results in shorter distances. I should point out, I'm using the system at a ceiling height of 103.5 inches, which is about 4 percent lower than the minimum height requirement. It's interesting that the club and ball speed are low by about the same 4 percent as the lower ceiling height. Protee has had the system, so I know it is functioning correctly. I don't know if this might help, but my 2 cents.

Good points Stonebattle. Great to hear from you as well. The other area to check is the physical in Protee Labs, mainly altitude and humidity which will affect carry distances.

          Thanks Bubba:
I have modified the physics a small amount. I'm beyond super senior now, so having a fun round with my golf buddies is the main issue. We play mostly in TGC 2019 and I can add a bit of distance in the settings, so every one that plays seems to be fine with the results. Not missing a single shot with realistic results every time is awsome.

I agree Stonebattle. We've come a long way with sims over the years and you have been a huge part of testing/discussion etc on this forum. Looking forward to there new GolfCore software.

I find my high iron stats always low as well but were likewise on TM4 in a commercial setting. I can hit PW there to 130 full swing on most courses with normal elevation. In real life, I'm closer to 160yds. On protee so far, without changing anything, I'm mostly 130-140 area. I carried a gamegolf for several years and have thousands of shots archived via GPS so my on course intel is pretty tight. I don't know what to attribute this to but honestly it doesn't bother me too much - I use use more club indoor at times. (hitting PW 160 is no good anyway for what its worth.)
