Can I get away with these dimensions for a camera based system?

So I am in the process of moving house and luckily the house has a garage which I already have earmarked as my Golf Sim/Gym and general man cave area :-)

The dimensions are a bit tight so wondering peoples thoughts on if it can be done.

Length is ok at 5.8m (19') width is just about ok at 2.8m (9.2') but height is tight at 2.6m (8.5').... for once I am maybe lucky to be short at 5' 7" so almost 3 feet of room above. Driver is something I really want to use a lot in this setup but a bit worried at this dimension- is it doable? I have quite a shallow backswing and downswing. Launch angle is 16-18 but occasionally get the odd sky on my bad hits

If it can be done the next thing to consider is building it in stages as the house move is no small cost.

Ideally going to start with just a mat for practice with foam balls,

Then look to install net and impact screen- just wondering if this can be done pretty cheaply myself? I was thinking archery netting then maybe just large heavy duty dust sheets? Or even bed sheets secured and hung over a fixed pole? Are there better (but still inexpensive) ways of doing this

How much space is needed between walls/ceiling and net and screen so it kills the ball before hitting wall or ceiling?

Then would probably look to buy a skytrak system then lastly projector. I have a laptop and android tablet which I know isn't supported yet but would probably just get an ipad for the skytrak.

You can probably get by with the height but the width is tight. You have to try to se if it works for you. You only need like 30 cm between the screen and backwall so length is no problem.

You don't mention anything about your own size. I'm 6 foot 4 inches and would find the width and height absolutely stifling and the space unuseable. It's far from ideal that's for sure.

I'd say width should be at least 12 feet, to be worthwhile.

I did- I'm short at 5' 7" :-D I've been in driving ranges 2.8m wide so I'm not overly worried about width or length just the height... I reckon my driver will be shaving the ceiling at best or putting holes in it at worst.

Alternatively you could also flip the width and length. You can build for closer range and its not a huge deal. I'm 5'8" with similar space and I can't hit driver but only because my garage door opener is impeding me. I will be replacing it late fall with a direct drive unit. But as a short guy I have no problem swinging driver in 8' ceilings.

Thanks Yrrdead81 this sounds more promising. I'll just need to wait until I move in to test it. I think i'll video my swing without a mat DTL to see how close driver comes to roof then decide on thickness of mat I use.... My idea of saving some swinging space is have overhead and side nets tight against the wall at point of swing but going in the way until it reaches impact screen so by the time it gets there the net is a foot away from wall and ceiling. Only danger I can is extreme shanks and skys would bounce off wall and ceiling.
