IMHO - If you're only going to spend $200 on the mat. Unless you find a great used deal. Your doing yourself a disservice.Originally posted by Boverton View PostTime for a new mat. What’s the best $200 5x5 mat to buy and where?
Do your research and invest in a great mat, If not in 6 months while nursing a sore elbow you will be. :-)

If you are handy, you could buy a couple of fiberbuilt panels and build your own surrounding frame with AstroTurf for close to $200. Then your hitting surface is premium and you are just sacrificing on where you stand. That may not be an option depending on how your sim is setup though.

That's what I did after purchasing a County Club Elite mat and switching to the Fiberbuilt hitting panel has been a dream compared to the County Club Elite.
I bought some heavy foam interlocking floorpads from Lowes, stuck them on a piece of plywood, wrapped the whole thing in astroturf so it matched the height of the Fiberbuilt panel and I was off to the races.Last edited by trhuke; 01-23-2019, 08:24 PM.

If you DIY something, you can get a great mat and stay near that range. You would need to make a hitting platform, and you can drop in two 1'x1' fiberbuilt sections and I believe they can be had for under $200
Edit:Looks like andy above had the same idea
