Are usb 2.0 ports ok for protee? Also, I have a gaming computer but it only has 2 usb2.0 ports. Is there something to expand the number of ports?

Yes sir. I have both of my Protee cameras, the sensor mat, and a wireless usb keyboard running through a powered USB 3.0 hub going into a single USB 3.0 hub on my MSI gaming pc. I have also used it, I believe, through a single 2.0 port on my PC.

I have had occasional drops from my cams, but I believe that was due to inclement weather/temps and only happened 3xs. Keep everything dry especially all of your connections.

PROTEE UK has recently said that they recommend using a hub just for the cams with the sensor mat on a separate port on your PC. Follow their advice always over mine and/or anyone elses if you can. Click image for larger version

Hi Dejavu, make sure the power settings in pc esecially those linked to allowing usb ports to go to sleep are set to not allow this. Also in device manager at the bottom you can open the usb ports and make sure the power management is set not to sleep. I did do this but windows updates will sometimes change your power choices back to a mre economical set up. It is very annoying for windows to do this. Best to switch them off

That is, as always, excellent advice PROTEE UK Thanks to you guys, this has already been taken care of. I also disabled all windows updates...if that's what you're referring to, and haven't had any issues since.

I'm a firm believer in...if it's not broke don't fix or modify it as windows tries to. Now, I just enjoy reading about the potential problems with the new windows updates. Lol

DejaVu , on to this question… finally getting setup and I just ordered a 30’ plus USB Active 2.0 extension cable for my VCAM which will sit behind me, on left side, and my overhead HCAM will be attached to computer on a separate USB port with a 16’ digitus active 2.0 USB extender… do those have to match the port? For example if my cameras are plugged into USB 3.0 (fast) ports - do I have to buy matching USB 3.0 fast, active USB extender cables?,

I have also used it, I believe, through a single 2.0 port on my PC.
You mention that you also ran these on USB 2.0 ports? Here's where I am unsure if mine ever ran that way. You see Jaimie at PROTEE UK helped me check my setup, just that it was reading the cameras ok on my brand new computer (Lenovo Legion Gaming computer), when I had it first setup and running in my basement - though I was not able to hit any balls down there, just wanted to be certain cameras were working... I kept those cameras plugged into the same ports he had them plugged into when he got it working, so now I wonder if I should examine those ports and check if they are (2.0, or 3.0 USB), and try to match that version - with the extender cables I use when I connect this whole thing up in my actual Sim Space (which is nearing completion)?

    Also, you say:
Recently said that they recommend using a hub just for the cams with the sensor mat on a separate port on your PC. Follow their advice
Is this still the best recommendation? I'm not sure I kept the sensor mat plugged in the entire time and don't remember where it was plugged in, I'll have a look and see - but it's been 2 years since this was tested.

It doesn't matter usb 2 or 3 for cameras.
The sensor mat adaptor dhouod remain where it was or it may create a other comm port for it when moved meaning the device could end up on multiple comm ports and get messy.

If using a laptop, it is best to use a powered USB hub as the cameras may draw too much power from a single USB card.
Working...
