Camera Extension Cables

I have seen it a lot on here and experienced losing the hcam upon bootup sometimes and losing camera settings with my ProTee system. It was becoming real bad as I would lose hcam settings during a game and it would totally throw my system out of whack. I recently bought some quality USB extensions. It didnt break the bank but they were higher quality than what I received from the 3rd party company I bought it from. They were 2 super speed usb 3.0 active cables at about $15 each and it has made all the difference in the world. It's been a few weeks not I havent lost a camera and my camera settings are the same every time I boot up. It was getting to the point where this was a daily occurrence. When I say "lose the camera" I mean where you have to unplug and replug the extender or try plugging into different port. Anyway, I hope I dont jinx myself for posting this but wanted to give it a few weeks to make sure. If you're having similar issues you might look into this.

I would love to have the information on what you got. I tried one and it did not help. As it is now, I run an extra monitor just to watch my camera (hcam) for when it goes out.

I have a GSA 2 camera system. I had the same type of problems with my cameras. I found that adding 2 USB 3.0 expansion cards to the computer solved the issue. Cameras run better when they are on their own port. Plugging into a different slot does not change the port. The expansion card will have it's own port. I also use active extension cables. Two cameras sharing one port can lead to a camera dropping occasionally. Although the cameras on my system are USB 2.0 cameras, they run better on USB 3.0

Yeah my others were active extension cables too, though like any cable, quality matters. Not sure why the 3.0 matters but like you say, it does. I know the thickness of these is about twicw what the others were. I'm sure your way is another way to go also. The cost for the 2 cables were $31.00 so if your solution is cheaper that could be a way to go also. I know it was frustrating before and so nice not to deal with that anymore.
