Sensor Mat Randomly Synchronizing?

I seem to get a few shots each round that just don't read mainly because the sensor mat is synchronizing for a few seconds at random times. Is it normal for it to do a random synchronize once every few minutes? I suspect this may have something to do with the power cord it came with as it doesn't connect perfectly...

A Sensor Mat sync does not take any longer than 27 milliseconds. If you hit a shot in EXACTLY that timeframe, then the ball will not launch. The non launch is probably caused by something else.

This is happening quite a bit again, and when the red synchronizing sensor mat appears, its up for a solid 3-4 seconds. It seems to sync randomly and quite often which is causing for a lot of non read shots. What causes it to synch? Is there a setting I can adjust for this?
