Ball on tee offset.

I think I understand the concept of "Ball on tee offset" but some clarification would help. What I think is that in the protee interface we have the ground set at 0. If we tee up our drivers,(duh) we would set them to say 25 for 25mm above ground. 3 wood is say 10 for 10 mm above ground. If we teed up irons at say 4mm, we use 4. This only applies to the tee box and not to fairways.

Am I understanding this correctly or does the system automatically estimate a preset height and these adjustments are just for outliers, such as teeing up a driver 50 mm high.

The launch angle calculation starts from the center of the red box (center of the ball).
Ball on the tee offset will raise that, so the angle calculation starts above the red box.

The calculation offset is only used when the ball is on the Tee Box in the game. Not when its on the fairway or anywhere else.
