  • Penalties for Bunkers and what's labeled.NOW FIXED

Have been having a lot of lost strokes due to the penalties for the bunkers and such not being what I thought.

I checked several courses and found that the "bunker" label changes from course to course. For example Pebble Beach has the green side bunkers called "bunker" but plays like my settings for green side bunkers while the fairway bunkers called "bunker" have the penalty for my fairway bunkers. All is well there, but other courses have all bunkers called "bunker" but use the fairway bunker penalty for all of them. Thus any green side bunker, without knowing, I would sail the shots too far and over the green.

Also we have noticed some heavy rough or long grass can have no penalty.

So the question: Is this a Red Chain thing or can Protee fix these things if we make notes and let them know?

My practice rounds from now on will be dropping balls in areas to see if they have penalty applied. By the way if you do plan to do this always note that the first time you drop a

That should be doable. I will let them know if you want.

I did send a PM as well but it would not hurt to pass it on to them.

That was a tough one to pin point as my match today I thought green bunkers played at only 10% penalty like my fairway bunkers were set, but then a couple come up a lot shorter than I calculated and then I wondered why they started to play different half way through a match.

      Now I know.

There is now a fix for this issue with a new update to the GSX interface.

Use their link to go to the download section and just download the GSX interface again to get the new version with a new slider for that issue (not called GSX but the one related to the GC2, can't recall the exact name as I am on my inside computer where that stuff is not loaded) You can't just use the last installer you would have used to install everything but going to that link installs another new installer that will have that update to .4.9

It is a quick download and install but gives a new slider for us to set what we want the greenside bunker max distance to be. After that yardage then the fairway bunker settings take hold.

That's excellent SFR. Another super fast response from Protee support!

Ya.... I am not used to that kind of service, but I think I could get used to it.

Great job, SFR. I'll try the bunker setting when I get back home next week.

For the driver, I'm not sure I'm having shop shaping issues. I have sidespin set to 0 and I can slice or hook it off the planet, but I've hit many straight long shots. Also, on the GC2 itself, I usually carry between 220-250, 250 being my highest. The issue for me was when I hit it 250 with a draw I come in shallow and the backspin is sub 2000. The GC2 says 240-250 yard carry but the protee software can sometimes go below 200 yards carry and roll on those shots.

I can hit driver with backspin ranging from 1900 to 3700 if I hit it badly, and those will be my massive short slices. When my dad comes down at the end of the month I'll confirm the readings because he is consistent. So overall I guess I think its accurate with driver, for me anyways.
