What kind of computer are you using to run The Golf Club?

The GPU will depend. All of this depends on needs, there’s running the software at 1) baselines, including resolutions 2) using enhanced/certain detail max settings or 3) future proofing for TGC 2019 or E6 Connect or 4) going all out in 4K.

If you’re looking to have the bases covered for 2019 releases suspect an i5 generation is needed , in my opinion the i5 vs the earlier i7 processor generations are not big enough gains to make the cost worthwhile. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.lapto...ore-i5-vs-i7-2

As most note the graphics card is critical to this, depending on the needs of people that I suggested above, there’s a range for everyone. I personally felt for running on 1080i that a 1050 ti card would get me to a good cost effective spot for the this years new releases (immdue the 2019 TGC free upgrade). I am moving up from a 940MX. You do NOT have to have GTX 1080 cards with max RAM and latest i7 —- but it would be nice!

I am curious....for those that have high performance GPU's...are you using a computer display or monitor to enjoy the action or are you actually seeing a improvement on your impact screen? I have a GTX 760 and a ACER 1080p 3000 lumens with a decent impact screen. I was thinking about going to a 1060 gpu but I am not sure if I will see anything different. FYI, I have all my Nividia settings turned on perfomance and I have never had any problems with lag,flicker,etc. I also have most of the TGC settings maxed out too.

I am under the impression that I would need to improve my screen,card, and projector to enjoy any significant improvement........maybe I am incorrect?

Since you run with tgc settings basically maxed out there is nothing for you to gain except higher frame rates. Since you aren't bothered by your current frame rates upgrading for you would be a complete waste of money.

I personally woudn't buy a laptop....

If you have the money you can buy an older Core I7, Get at least 8-12GB of Ram, 256GB SSD, GTX1060-6GB or higher GTX1080 (non-TI) would be my preference at the current price point. Also don't buy the 3GB version of the GTX1060 card as you may want to future proof a bit...

3rd party programs can run in background like overwolf that will display frame rate in upper right hand corner of the screen.... but when you say you running max graphics with a 760 card where are you turning graphics to max? Cause I have a hard time believing a 760 will run full graphics at 1080p resolution. Are you determining you are running full graphics at the tgc launch screen?
Or are you going into the settings after the game is loaded and turning up trees to 10000 far trees to 2000 and object detail to 5 and water set on 2?

I'll try and look for a fps app.......meanwhile, I use TGC and display settings where I turn all the sliders to max. I also use the nividia control panel to max out everything for performance, last I do run the TGC pop up launch at 1080 x 920 (I thinks that's the one, I tried higher but no difference). I run my acer at auto and it covers my impact screen which is 10 x 10. Maybe I am missing something. FYI, I have nothing running on my sim except TGC.

OK, thx for the suggestions......I installed FRAPS and for the first time I can see FPS !......it's a mixed blessing as I was fat dumb and happy thinking my performance was decent! Now I cans see about 50 FPS on Arcadia, 20 FPS on Carls Bait, and 30 FPS on SALPS. I played around with the display settings and if I lower the max tree count I get about 5fps increase on some. I did notice a quicker flyby with less detail though. Surprising to me the FPS dropped bit time (10-15fps) when the scorecard was displaying. So now I am left with deciding IF it would be worthwhile to upgrade from a GTX760 to a GTX 1060. I plan to keep my 1080p projector and screen as they are fine.

It seems to me I may benefit from a higher FPS but honestly I do not know if I would really notice it since I only do TGC and no other gaming....any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think you will notice a difference in the detail of the course. I went from a 770 to a 1070 and it was very noticeable.

I agree with wbond. Upgrading card will improve visual performance. If you do go with a 1060 get the 6gb though imo.

The detail doesn't change, that is just different settings. You can do the same with either card. What changes is the frame rate and you aren't bothered by the frame rate. So you guys aren't making much sense. Adjust the settings until it looks good then decide if the resulting frame rate bothers you. It didn't before but if it does now then yes you need a better card. Otherwise you don't.

But you've been contaminated so you really have no choice, resistance is futile you will upgrade. Lol
