  • tweaking distances

I'm interested in tweaking my protee distance to match how far i really hit the ball, as I imagine we all are. To that ends, i would like to adjust my club speed to match the speed per my swing radar, and then to adjust the ball speed to get appropriate smash factors for various clubs, once my club head speed has been adjusted, then as per the user manual I will tweak my distances by adjusting drag.

So here is the thing with a driver the protee speed is similar to the radar say 105 to 100 (PT is always a bit higher), but with a 9 Iron the difference is much great, PT will read say 90 mph when the radar is indication say 72. When I adjust the club head speed to say 1.5, I will get a reading of around 110, which is good, but when I try to adjust downwards, using a setting of .5 the club head speed only drops to about 83 mph, still to high.

So my question is how to I get the club head speed lower?

Check the settings file and see if Use_TBS=True

I'm a newbie to all this, so how do I go about checking a file?

Settings in the settings file can be changed from the interface by bringing up the editor buy pressing ALT E.

You should check out the technical info section of this forum.

Quick question, wouldn't the change suggested impact ball speed no club head speed? I'm just trying to gain a better understanding of how the interface functions. Thanks again for your help.

As an aside I am currently getting appropriate distances, but I want to get the club head speeds, ball speeds, and resulting smash factors more accurate in terms of reliable data. Once all these are dialed in, I hope to use "drag" adjustments to tweak my distances. Does this make sense?

That setting changes the method for calculating ball speed. The old way used club speed for part of the ball speed calculations. I'm hoping that changing this setting to True will fix your problem. It could still be something else.

And yes, once the ball/club settings are correct, then adjust drag to get your carry.

Hi Zmax, I checked and Use_TBS=True was being used. So plan B I guess.
