  • Sky Trak renewal fee....

I bought my TGC with my sky trak last February.....we had to pay $99 fee for ST along with the $1000 for TGC....we were told it was going to still cost $99 each year with ST.........I just got an email that says i need to pay $200 to renew to be able to use simulation software??? This can't be right.....or is it??

  • I wouldn't be surprised if someone were to start Jail-braking the units.

The SkyTrak device takes pictures and sends it to the app. The app then analyzes the pictures to simulate ball flight. Hence the SkyTrak unit doesn't require much processing , is lightweight . Which is why the lag you see is so dependent on where you run the range software. If you jailbreak the pictures you might as well launch our own launch monitor as the SkyTrak device in itself is nothing special. The GC2 ,on the other hand , does all the computations on the device.

Lurking here for last two years, waiting for sim issues to be sorted out, and that took quite a long time. Perhaps skycaddie thinks they deserve a reward for finishing a job that should have been closer to a finished at product launch ? Or this gives them a portion the purchase price differential as compared to competitors such as GC2, ES16 ?

There are other choices. Thanks to long time forum users for making this information available.
What are your other options you're considering? 100 extra a year sucks, but es16 is over 5k, gc2 even more. Is there anything else in the 2-3k price range to consider?

I will probably sell or just drop back to driving range sessions for free, thanks. Greedy buggers. Going to see a lot on ebay in the next few weeks is my guess.
I wonder what you'll be able to sell it for though?

$250 per year means $2500 over ten years which is more or less what the Skytrak is worth so that means the unit itself is worth next to nothing...

      • I was trying my best to get this posted yesterday, but here it is. I want you to know that I sincerely value all of your input and even though some days I feel like I need to put on my flak jacket before I step in here, I do it because it’s worth it. A company simply cannot be successful while operating in a vacuum. I hope the statement below reflects the fact that we at SkyTrak are always listening - trying to make our product better and keep our loyal customers confident that SkyTrak was the right choice. Thank you again for your patience while this was being resolved and for your continued support and feedback. -Seth

        ------------------------------

Recently we modified our subscription levels for simulation use in order to put us in compliance with our licensing agreements. This change was implemented poorly and caused much confusion for many of our customers. We have reviewed all of your feedback and want you to know that you are and always have been our priority. To that end, we would like to inform you that from today we have worked it out to allow The Game Improvement Plan (“GIP”) to continue to serve as the gateway subscription to the very popular simulation software provided by The Golf Club Game, Perfect Golf and TruGolf E6.

As a result, it will not be necessary to grandfather any accounts, existing or new, or provide discount coupons going forward in order to renew or have access to these simulation packages under the Game Improvement Package

It will take us a few days to update our website content with this information and have your account profile updated to reflect your original subscription levels, whether it was the GIP or Play and Improve Package (“PIP”). No changes are required regarding the PIP subscribers. Most importantly, no customer should have any interruption to service while these changes are being made and all customers, existing or new, will be able to access these simulation packages under GIP as before, effective immediately.

We value the input, recommendations, product ideas and the beta testing our forum customers have provided over the past several years. We look forward to engaging with you further as we continue developing additional SkyTrak content.

Again, there should be no disruption in service to any customer while we update our systems to negate any impact of the recent changes. In the meantime, however, if you would like to speak to a phone representative, please contact us at 866-759-4653.

        Sincerely,

        SkyTrak Customer Support
