not so, the cameras track the ball and not the club. just like GC2. there is a reason that Foresight produced a HMT unit with additional cameras, or the new quad with four cameras.
Likelihood of club tracking to come beside skypro?

So you don't think there is a way to trigger the cameras to also capture the club? Obviously its not as ideal as a separate unit but I don't understand how it doesn't have the hardware unless you show me what you mean.Originally posted by bennyg211 View Postnot so, the cameras track the ball and not the club. just like GC2. there is a reason that Foresight produced a HMT unit with additional cameras, or the new quad with four cameras.
I own a high speed camera, i can capture both the ball and club in the same picture. I can calculate quite easily ball speed, and club speed. Its accuracy is reliant on frame rate and how well I measure a reference point. With a higher res camera and higher frame rate, I could, in theory, calculate those much more easily, and even perhaps some information about swing path.

I agree, the hmt add on for gc2 is built for best accuracy, especially for strike location, my point was, that I feel Skytrak "could" measure at least some club parameters potentially quite accurately with what it has built in. That would be awesome to me, no added cost, just added functionality through software capabilities.
In my mind, unless its impossible to get the cameras to also capture images of the club, which could be true, parameters such as club speed, angle of attack, and path (in or out), could be seen and calculated through software much like it does with the ball itself.
It will probably double the calc time though if it could lol.

i'm not meaning to be a tool, but I fail to see how you could get any meaningful data from the ball cameras? I think the point is when and where the cameras actually capture data and I think you'll find the club head is generally nowhere near the field of view, certainly for both cameras. Look at how far forward the unit is to the ball, you'll never see a path or AoA if somehow you could see the club head at some point as all those events have occurred well before those cameras see a thing.

I do not know what the cameras can see, my assumption is that it can see the ball tee'd up, perhaps not, that is a technical issue I do not know the answer to. All I know is if i bump the ball off the tee, it will sometimes act as if i hit the ball and it delays to see if the pictures show a hit shot? There are sensors and what not I assume that are mixed in there. If you are familiar with what it can see or not see, then that would be the technical clarification I would need to ditch any hope for added functionality.

ok, so you have some triggering sensors that get triggered when the club passes through and this gives the camera the call to fire will a known delay/latency. The club hits the ball and then the ball takes off. At some put during the ball ascending it appears in the first camera window and then onto the second camera window. I don't know how many images are taken with each camera. i don't believe the club head is in the frame for most shots. Nor do I believe that the camera sees or evaluates the ball when it is tee'd, merely at some point during its travel. Hence needing to shift the ball forward or backwards depending on loft.

I have a Skypro that I use occasionally, but what's the point of using it in TGC? Am I supposed to take it off after each shot and put it on the next club or are we talking about just using it in the skytrak app for practice and data?

They should just add an additional camera add on option for club data. Like HMT does, Charge another $1500 for the add on feature Or just integrate a pro tee style mat. Can't be that hard for people who work with this kind of technology already. Obviously people want it..
GC2 charging an extra 6 grand for HMT or the ridiculous price of the QCquad is insane. Skytrack is less than 1/3rd the cost of a new GC2 for something nearly as accurate. Don't see why they couldn't add the club data most people want for 1/3rd the cost of Foresight as well. Probably put them out of business if they got it fine tuned a little better.

Benny,
That could very well be how it works but maybe to illustrate what I am thinking I have posted Skytrak's picture of what I assumed was its viewing field with the cameras. I do doubt the possibility they would or could enable their camera system to obtain any useful data regarding the club, just wishing is all.1 Photo

I actually don't think it's a big deal. We can see the angle the ball takes off at and the spin and see what the ball is doing via tracker trace. It's not hard to figure out what the club head was doing. Am I missing something?

I hope they add some sort of club tracking that does does not involve Skypro.
- I have had 2 skypro's and they both stopped working after a couple months. Check the amazon reviews page for them, lots of people with the same issue. I think they cannot stand up to the shock of impact for very long.
- Having to move the Skypro between clubs, and recalibrate it, would make it very annoying to use in anything other than practice on the Skytrak range.
I would like them to release something stand-alone, not something that attaches to your club. And of course getting this data in Skytrak and passed to the various simulator API's would be nice.

hmmm I just purchased a re-furbished Skypro directly from the company through their ebay store in the USA. So far it is working fine. Agree, it is great for putting. I bought it because of the problems I've had with Swingbyte. Several straps and clips breaking. Swingbyte itself still works, but the last thing that broke was the strap mount on the case itself. Swingbyte said for me to buy another swingbyte - wouldn't supply me with another case - even after saying I would pay for it. So I bought the Skypro instead as it was way cheaper. Here's hoping it doesn't break as well..

I've owned a Zepp and currently own a Garmin Truswing. If Skytrak was to implement the Skypro into the app I would definitely purchase one.
