I have a skytrak and mainly just use it with my laptop. I decided to try it with my ipad, which is an older ipad 3(3rd generation) and when i hit the ball it was about a 10 second delay. i hit about 10 then decided to switch over to my iphone 7plus and it was almost instantaneous or maybe it felt that way because I just got done waiting ten seconds. I think it may have been even faster than my gaming laptop. Anyway, i was thinking of getting a new ipad so i could use it in the yard or at the range as well. Anyone been using their ipad and at what model do you see the speed faster with it and what kind of stand do you use for outside?

I switched to an iPad Pro 9.7 from an iPad Air. I don't remember how much faster the shot display was but it definitely made a few second difference. On the iPad and SkyTrak range I'm probably between 2-3 seconds. I bought a cheap tripod and adaptor bracket from eBay for less than $20...works great, very light and portable.
I'm sure you could get a flexible tripod arm that attaches to your golf bag...might be handy for the range.

That's good to hear, when I get a skytrak that actually works I will be using it with an iPad pro with it shown on a tv screen wall mounted via apple tv

i was just at best buy, and was asking the difference between the air and pro ipad. The guy told me the pro is a 30 percent faster processor and the mini was the same processor of the air. We also looked it up and my iphone 7 plus has an a10 chip and the ipad pro has an A9. Cant believe my phone has a bigger chip. I think i will definitely go with the pro and now just have to decide if i should wait and see if they come out with a new one first lol.

I use an iPad Air 2 and get 2-3 second delay, I use a gooseneck holder (£15) when at range, also have a tripod.
The pictures are pretty poor as I had to compress them to use on forum.3 PhotosLast edited by KerrHughes; 03-18-2017, 09:51 PM.

based on hardware, the latest iPad pro should be close but possibly slightly slower than your iphone 7 plus. i'm planning on iphone 7 plus and airplaying to an apple tv instead of going the ipad route, mainly because i already have that hardware.
regarding your post above - dont ever listen to people at best buy. but as far as a new ipad coming out, apple hasnt confirmed yet if there's a spring event scheduled. it's rumored now for last week of March or April. if a new ipad pro were coming out soon, it would be announced there. rumors are for 3, possibly 4 new iPad models and at a minimum would have hardware matching your iphone 7 plus.
recommendation - wait and check macrumors.com on a daily basisLast edited by mikestuewe; 03-19-2017, 01:26 PM.

I use an iPad Pro and satisfy with its speed and screen. I think it's better than other iPad models. PS: I think it will be better to compare the pros and cons of all the iPad models before getting a new one.

The original iPad Air is our minimum spec which generates a ~4 second delay. You can use it with some older models, but the shot-to-show will suffer. With each iPad model release since our launch, we seem to gain 0.5-1 seconds in shot-to-show. So in a couple of years, you may see the ball fly before you hit it
