That sounds very similar to what Yonex described. Since it seems to be reproduceable for you, can I get you to send me the Unity log? To be sure the log is generated, right-click on the icon and run the SkyTrak app as administrator. Then after a crash, do the following:

    1) Do NOT open the app back up
    2) Instead, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SkyTrak\SkyTrak Data.

In there you will see a text file called output_log. That will help us see why the crash occurred.

Yup, will DM you the log file the next time I encounter the issue. Thanks!

    Seth.

Yes, having the same situation as frackh has described.

Increased no reads and then after about 3 to 5 no reads the app crashes.

I've also noticed that for some reason it starts to run slower the longer I use Skytrak as well. It's like it starts to run slow, then the odd miss-read, then several miss-reads in a row and then crash.

Not that I don't appreciate the hard work and how far the skytrak app has come. But all these bugs that seem to pop up with each release makes me wonder how much the apps are tested and how big the beta testing group is that is used to test the updated apps before they are released.

        I have to agree.

The fact that is not a wide-spread problem indicates that it's probably a conflict with another program on the computer, windows update, something out of date, etc. We can't plan for and test every scenario on every computer make and model, but we do our best to react as quickly as possible when we get something like this.

I wasn't referring to any one issue. But the crashing ipad app doesn't seem specific to one user. Even the small things like the scrolling issue, exporting bugs in the past, different colors for the shot plotting etc....are things I think could/should have been dealt with if there were a sufficient amount of beta testers....or even users like the ones on the board here who really put the app through the ringer. Again...I appreciate all the hard work. And i get how there might always be something that can be tweaked.

I have recently updated the app (in computer) I have not seen the alignment function in my unit. Shortly after the updating I had a terrible time connecting, but finally I was able to make a connection with my computer. What shall I do in order to get the alignment function?

It is located in the lower right corner of the dashboard in the device leveling screen.

      Where is located?

Seth, I have also been experiencing low launch angles. About 70% of my shots are bellow 10 degrees (I am using 7 iron through driver). The launch angles are not been affected by my FMJ protector. I hit several shots with out the FMJ and the launch angles did not change.

There's nothing that has changed, really since the beginning of SkyTrak, that would affect how the launch angles are read. Do you get low launches with a PW? If so, it might be a hardware issue and the unit should go back for inspection.

            Seth,

In my current set up I can not hit a PW. However between the 7 and the 5 iron the launch angles are very similar / close

Can you take it to a range and hit it there? Probably worth it to start ruling things out. Also, if your screen leaves a mark when the ball hits, with some math you can figure out your launch angle.

          • #39
            Wbond,
Thanks for your comments and thoughts. Taking it to the range is certainly a great idea. Initially bought the unit to help me be more consistent in my ball flight. Fortunately, the launch angle has not affected the ball flight, it does change the distance but not the shot shape.

I have experienced the crash message twice since upgrading to 2.6.2. I have the crash dumps that were generated, but chat support didn't seem to know what to do with them. Is there any point in sending them? If so, to who?

jaus check with Seth to see if he still needs them. I sent him mine via PM but you'll need to zip it up if it's too large to attach.

            • #41
Thanks, probably can't use them because it's not logging in Unity or in our app logs. Trying to get to the bottom of it...seems windows update-related.

These are logs generated by the Skytrak software. The crash message asks you to send them to send them in.

jaus, Hmmm, we don't generate any messages like that, but Unity does. Sure, if you don't mind, you can PM them to me.

I tried to PM the package files but, even zipped, the files were rejected as too large for PM.

I've only experienced the one crash so far. It's not happened again in any other practice sessions.

With the most recent version of the iPad app, I'm seeing the app crash during a session once every three or four days. The crash seems to be right after I hit a ball and it's trying to calculate the flight.

Once it crashes, I can reopen the app and it boots up fine, but then crashes as soon as I hit a ball.

The only way I've been able to stop the cycle is to delete the app entirely and re-download from the App Store. Once that is done and I re-enter my credentials, it runs fine for a few sessions before crashing again. Rinse and repeat.

It's not the end of the world, but it's annoying if I have limited time to practice to have to stop for 5 minutes in the middle of a session to re download the app and enter my log in details etc.

Yeah, 5 minutes is probably an exaggeration. I would prefer 0 minutes though.

IMHO, even 30 seconds of wasted time is unacceptable. Nobody should have to be doing this. What model iPad are you on and what iOS version?

Mine has just started doing the same thing using an iphone 6s plus. I haven't had this problem before either. Once it crashes, it keeps crashing on the first shot. The only solution I had was delete the app, reinstall and it worked fine again after that. I think I've had to do this twice now. This is using the skytrak range app.
