  • USB wifi adapter (wifi #2) and Direct connection mode startup

I found this post for setting up a USB wifi adapter to connect the Skytrak in Direct mode on wifi #2 and was wondering, for anyone using this setup, was is your startup routine? I'm finding that after starting TGC, I lose the Skytrak interface connection on the first hole of TGC and I have to mess around trying to get it to reconnect. I have to use task manager to kill the Skytrak interface (with TGC running) since it won't reconnect, open the Skytrak interface and reconnect the box. It usually takes a couple of tries doing this to get it to connect. When it finally does reconnect it's good for the rest of the round. No issues when connecting in Direct mode with the Skytrak range program. The wifi #2 connection between the Skytrak and the USB wifi adapter is always connected and strong signal strength.

Should I just getting TGC running and kill the Skytrak interface and reconnect since it usually fails anyway?

    My setup:
Computer wifi #1 (metric 1) - used for internet and TGC connection
USB wifi adapter wifi #2 (metric 2) - used for Direct mode connection to Skytrak

    Edit:
I should have mentioned that network mode doesn't work that well for me since the wifi signal in the garage is not great. It's fine for running TGC but it's not so good at running Skytrak in network mode.

Have you tried straight USB from computer to SkyTrak? That's how I've always run my setup with TGC and it's bulletproof.

Unfortunately USB mode doesn't work well for me, I get constant false triggers (post). Direct mode works really well once I get it going.

Weakhead - I use the Wifi 2 setup you mentioned and have not had problems. After connecting Skytrak to Wifi 2 as described in the post, I start the TGC Skytrak Interface, click Connect Box, and then launch the game. One tip - if you lose your connection, instead of using the Task Manager to kill it, click on the up arrow at the bottom right of your windows screen and look for the TGC icon (it will be red if you have lost your connection). Right click on it and then select Restore. The interface will come up and you can press Connect Box again without losing your place in the game. I initially launch the game directly through the TGC Skytrak Interface. Not sure but there may have been an old version where you launch the interface program first and then have to separately launch the TGC software, so they both stay running simultaneously. Are you doing this with the two separate programs (Skytrak Interface + TGC)?

I am using the Skytrak TGC interface to start TGC with the "Play Game" button. I usually don't have much luck with Restoring the Interface from the system tray and pushing the Connect Box. I'll try Connect Box four or five times from the restored interface and it won't connect, so I'll kill it, open the Interface again and connect. TGC will continue to run if you use task manager to end process for the Interface rather than selecting Quit from the system tray.

weakhead have you found any other ways to ha dale this better since this post? I’m trying the dual WiFi setup, and the first hole I get a disconnect. Then it appears that the ST-TGC interface has simply stopped running or crashed. So I’ll open it again and then it struggles, saying “no box found” even though the second WiFi network is still connected to the skytrak.
