E6 vs JNPG as an alternative to The Golf Club

Hello All,

Just a quick post as I was wondering if anyone has any experience playing e6 or Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf in lieu of The Golf Club. I downloaded the demo for E6 and actually found myself enjoying it quite a bit more than The Golf Club. I know it may be blasphemy around here but I kind of find The Golf Club a bit too difficult and almost boring at times (I know..I know....) I have already purchased it up front as it was described as the holy grail of golf simulation on here. The E6 demo I cannot get to have any sound unless I am doing something wrong but like the camera views and angles and it just seemed to flow a bit faster and be a little more fun than The Golf Club in my experience. Has anyone played JNPG and E6 and can offer any advice? I like the price of JNPG better but hate there is no demo and before I shell out another 250.00 I would like to see if anyone has played it and if it more closely resembles The Golf Club or E6? I have already spent a bunch on the setup and want to try to get this right. Are there any good tournament or tour options on either? I like the course forge feature on JNPG similar to TGC and dislike the 400.00 per set of course purchases you have to make with E6. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I know nothing about e6, but I would suggest doing a google search for the other software, at the top of the search page there is a site where you can get a honest answer.

I design courses and play jnpg. I love it. There is a great community full of awesome people that love golf and want sim golf to as closely resemble real golf as possible. Constantly tweaking physics to make the game better and better. Just last week there was a tweak to putting physics that came at the request of the community as we felt lip-outs were a tad bit too often and didn't always resemble real life. the developers put in a fix and it made it literally perfect. The dev team really listens to the community to improve the game constantly.

Awesome post Bamagolfer. I think you might have just sold me. Lol. Do you use Skytrak or another launch monitor or different setup?

Hey there underdog, you've gotten some good response from the jnpg crowd. I think it should be an added wrinkle as to what hardware (launch monitor) you are using. I've heard the Skytrak on jnpg is less than perfect (maybe not?) So, definitely something to consider. Can't speak to e6. TGC is great for me, and we play plenty of live rounds as well. Hit me up if you're interested...

I have all 3 and each has there advantages. I love the ghost player in TGC and John. E6 to me is the most flawless and around the greens is the most true to golf. JNPG registers all my shots about 20% less. I also has of late have a difficult time connecting my skytrak to it and when it does connect, the shot register on the console screen but not on the course screen - just a pain. Also, I searched last night and there really is NO support line for the software...at least not that I saw. At least when you have an issue you can call protee for TGC and E6. TGC is the oldest and needs an upgrade - which I am sure will be here in late this year or early next. For now I will play the tour on TGC and when friends come over use e6. JNPG needs work for skytrak users in my opinion. If other skytrak users are find no issues with JNPG would like to hear from you.

I fully agree with Penrose. I have both TGC and E6, love them both. I find E6 to be more true to "Real Golf", and a more stable platform. E6 is easier for friends to play due to the touch screen operation vs various key strokes required by TGC.

Both have their place. But if I were limited to only one software.....E6 wins.

I haven't played E6 or TGC, only JNPG and have to echo what bamagolfer says - it just keeps getting better. I "rented" it in January and there have been nothing but constant improvements to the SkyTrak interface, new courses all the time that all seem well made, a good tour with Long Drive, CTP, Exhibition and Tour events weekly. There are plenty of SkyTrak users doing well on the tour. It's not perfect, short game can be interesting but that seems like a common theme I read for the other platforms as well. The combines are great for practice and there are different ones that cover all aspects of your game. I enjoy it.

E6 was built for simulators so has better usability at this stage. Perfect Parallel however was also designing a simulator at some stage and one its founders came from Fore Golf and FullSwingGolf, so PP did use a simulator in house during development.

I think PG's the only one however that doesn't allow offset to be modified, unless that's been added recently.

The essence of true golf does however come out in PP - that is due to another one of their founders being a golf pro. Even with a mouse or controller it actually feels like you're compressing a ball.

E6 I've found the simulators I've used it on let me down too much to appreciate the software.

You would have spent $4-5k already, $200 for a year of JNPG is well worth it to see how you like it, plus see if you're into the organised tournaments going on.

I'll jump in here. I'm a long time TGC and JNPG user. I play both tours during the winter months when I have more inside time available. When I chose to only do one tour during the spring I chose JNPG. I have a SkyTrak and as has been stated they are constantly working with us SkyTrak owners to make sure we are able to compete week in and week out. I personally have three wins on tour this spring I believe. With that being said there is still some work to be done from approach shots and sand shots. However, for the most part it is not enough to deter someone from playing.

As far as ES6 goes I personally felt it was the least consistent software when it comes to "real" golf. I had the demo and based on it I chose not to spend my money on it. As a new course designer on the JNPG course design software I can assure you these courses as are true to life as you can find. They are based on elevation data, so when you are done the "play" is going to be just like you were standing on that course.

I have the course where I live on both TGC and JNPG and there is no comparison as to the playability. And I have personally designed two IRL courses that I have played in our area. I'm looking forward to the winter months as I plan at this time to continue playing both TGC and JNPG. But when I only have time to play one JNPG will be my choice.

Awesome feedback everyone. This is a great post to follow. I am actually going to bit the bullet and purchase JNPG as well. At this point, why not? Worst case scenario I'm out a couple hundred bucks but best case scenario I find a truly awesome experience. I'm liking what I am hearing concerning JNGP and Skytrak users which I am also. I'm the opposite of most people. I started with PG then added TGC. Have also played E6 lots. Each has its strengths and issues but all three are very good IMO. None make you believe you have left your sim room and are actually getting sunburnt, rained on or exhausted from walking the course. So you have to "suspend disbelief" to get the most out of them. But do that and they are all great. On the sim if I had to pick one it would be TGC, on the pc it would be PG. E6 feels the most mature.

Also just one more quick question. Is there anyway to have the data screen on TGC after a hit shot show you how far away you are from the hole? I've looked all over the screen after you hit a shot and can't believe they didn't put in a spot on that screen that shows you distance to hole after you hit a shot. I know once that screen goes away it eventually shows it for your next shot but still every other simulator game I've seen has this data after a hit shot and just wasn't sure if I was missing how to add it somewhere.
