Skytrak + TGC and forced putting mode

Anyway to override skytrak when playing TGC and it switches to putting mode and I don't want to put? Driving me crazy !!

Hmm, if I understand correctly you don't want to putt at all in TGC? If so, that is a gimme setting within TGC. Gimme set to "on green" will most likely get you where you want to be. If you want to refine that a bit, you could use "distance" setting and adjust your proximity levels accordingly. Hope that helps...

No.... what keeps happening on certain courses is I end up in a bunker or off green on a slope and it's switching to putting when a wedge is the only way to get it on the green... I can't seem to get it off putting mode no matter what I do and am forced to take multiple shots to get it to be playable...

Ahhh, sorry about the misunderstanding aphillipe. But, I think I know what is happening here now. There is a setting called short game correction that I think automatically does this. It changes to a "putting mode" within a certain distance from the hole to help the Skytrak read the shot. Personally I hate the setting, but many more people like it. You can turn it off though, but you will have trouble getting a 6 yard chip to read. However, if you have it off you will get the correct spin on your pitches and chips. I have it off and just deal with the occasional read issues.

BadEddieKit - Can you confirm the above? I know you are more familiar with the "putting mode" than I am.

What he is describing is totally different than what I have experienced. The game does go into putting mode in all short yardage instances, but does the club switch to the putter? As long as the club being shown isn't a putter, you should be able to chip without issue, having heard of this one before.

Haven't heard of this either. I use short game correction and it does not do this. Only time putter comes up is when I'm on the green or I change it manually.

I thought the OP said it was "putting mode" but I was wrong earlier too. Lol! Ya, switching to the putter would be annoying.

so you land in the bunker and tgc has you hitting a sand wedge but the skytrak interface shows you a notification that you are now in putting mode? what happens if you then switch to putter in tgc and then switch back to sand wedge? are you using an older version of the skytrak tgc interface?

Correct - suggests a wedge but I get the notification via skytrak that it's in putting mode... if I switch around clubs no matter what I switch to and from putting mode never exits... how would I determine if my tgc is up to date? My skytrak software is... hmm.

are you starting the skytrak interface as administrator? i recall having to do that after updating to windows 10. also, what happens when you are not near the green and you switch to and from the putter? does it enter and exit putting mode?

i don't currently have a skytrak so i can't help with the version number. maybe someone else can jump in here an tell you what version they are using. The latest version of TGC is 3.0.1.

As I'm sure most SkyTrak owners know, the SkyTrak needs to switch from normal mode to putting mode to record a short putt or short chip. SkyTrak would need to answer this but I believe putting mode must align the cameras closer to the putting surface and change the cameras firing times to record a slow moving shot such as a short putt or chip. Our Fitness Golf software is written so that whenever your ball is within 20 yards of the flag then the SkyTrak is automatically put into putting mode. I believe this distance is similar in TGC software. In putting mode, semi-full and full swings are not recorded. So, on the rare occasion that you may want to have a fuller swing within 20 yards of the pin (greenside bunker, or wanting to hit a very high flop shot etc.) our software allows you to easily manually select normal mode by selecting any club except the putter/short chip choice. Likewise if there was some occasion you needed to hit a short chip or putt when you are more than 20 yards from the pin (possibly up against a tree for example), you can manually select putting mode by selecting the putter/short chip club within the game and then make a short chip to get out of trouble.

                      Hi all,

I re-open this thread because I have lot of trouble with TGC :

When I am close to the pin, the box in TGC Interface go in putting mode. As I am in a bunker or on the fringe and I want go with a chip, no matter what I do the box stay in putting mode ...
I use Z key to select a driver for example and the box is still in putting mode ... More than that, if I accept to finish the hole in putting mode (hard from bunker ..) it will stay in putting mode on the next tee shot !!! drive me crazy :-(

Any tips please ProTee United ?

                      Thanks all

This is not a bug, it's a feature! SkyTrak has "trouble" reading short ships, so anything within 20 yards to the flag will switch the SkyTrak into putting mode.
However, it should switch back to normal mode outside this range eg. on the tee. Switching clubs outside the 20 yard range should also switch the unit back into normal mode.

You can turn this feature off in the settings file: Short Chip Correction=OFF.
