  • SkyTrak register shot but stops displaying on screen

    Hi,
    Something strange is going on last week with my 8 months old ST...

    Installed v3 upgrade this week on a new iPad and W10 PC. After approx 25 shots or 10 minutes the ST is still register shots as expected (3x green -> top led Red -> 3x green) but don't display any shot on the screen...

    It looks like every day is happening the same, It is all oke for 25 shots and than no shots are displayed. On the ST the shot should be registered.
    Maybe this is a bug in v3? Memory overflow? Or something is going wrong with my Game Improvement license check? (counter each day)

    What are your thoughts?

    Had something similar yesterday....was doing bag mapping and went through 12 clubs on the 13th it just topped registering. 3 Greens ready to go hit a shot and nothing on the screen...3 greens ready to go and nothing.

      SkyTrak_Seth have you seen this problem lately? It looks like it popped up in v3 (both iOS as PC)

        Are you guys seeing 3 greens and no response from the unit that a shot has been hit, or the top light turns red upon hit and then back to green with no shot flying?

            Yes , have this same issue. Connected ok in Network mode then 3 green lights , hit shot top light turns red but not shot displayed. Additionally taking much longer to re arm. Middle light also turns solid amber before getting 3 greens again and going through same process.
            Using Network Mode with IPAD PRO. Very frustrating spent hour and a half of what was supposed to be practice time fiddling with this unit. All in all very flaky .

              Just finished some experimentation. I connected in direct mode. shots were registering and displaying on the iPad ok. Then reconnected in Network mode and everything was ok again with shots registering on the iPad. Very funny because I spent an hour and a half initially in Network mode trying to get shots to register , restarting app and resetting Skytrak via reset buttons multiple times and it would not play. After switching to Direct mode and playing shots ok then back to NetworkMode all is ok.
              Not a network problem , the network is good. Seems almost like something was causing the unit to hang after green light turns red after shot trigger and fail to display shot . Anyway seems like switching to Direct Mode can clear whatever is causing this. Never had this before v3.0.

                Glad to know mine wasn't the only one doing this. I just purchased a certified pre-owned and after 20 or so shots, I would get the same thing happening in network mode with version 3.0. Top light would turn red, but no shot would show. After a few of these, the middle light will turn amber and then back to all green, but still no shots registering. Turn everything and reboot and starts working again for a while. Thought I may have had a bad unit but it sounds like it might be software related???

                Also had a couple shots that showed negative 213 mph swing speed with the carry distance over 1,000 yards! Haven't been able to find that on any threads.

                  Thanks Kmurray It looks like you have found a workaround!
                  Switched from Network to Direct mode and every shot was displayed. Even when I switched back to Network Mode it still was displaying all shots (about 25).

                  I hope the reason this is causing is found soon!
                  It seems it has nothing to do with environmental e.g. mat, light, device level, reflection and type of golf ball.

                    Guys, thank you for this info. I actually experienced something similar in the office yesterday, but our network was also extremely flaky. I have since not been able to reproduce this at all today. I have logs from yesterday, so we are continuing to investigate. Anytime this happens, please exit practice and go to Profile>ABOUT>Send Logs>Send Current Logs. Send that to logs@skytrakgolf.com with a description of what happened in the subject/body. I'm actually holding v3.0.1 for this.

                        Seth, I have send you the logs with details what happend.
                        I used the SkyTrak today and got the same issue. Also the workaround doesn't helped.
                        oth Direct and Network mode on ST top light Red and then Green, but no shot on screen iPad.

                          For some reason it wont locate the network mode unless I connect to direct first then it goes back to network. I haven't had this issue until the new update.

                            When you program your unit to network mode, every time you turn the device on after that - it will start up in network mode. Even without the app open, you should see the middle light blink red, then yellow, then go solid yellow (if you are within range of your network).

                            The only way to get the device back into direct mode is:
                            1) Either connect to the app in network or USB mode, then select direct mode. You'll see the unit reboot. (unit will now always boot in direct mode, but saves the network creds)
                            2) Do a hard-reset of the unit. (unit will now always boot in direct mode, and this clears the network creds)
                            3) Go outside of your network range. Unit will revert to direct mode automatically, but it's still in network mode priority (meaning it starts up that way every time and still has the creds)

                            So basically, once the device is in network mode, you shouldn't have to do anything at all except turn the unit on and open the app (assuming you are within range of your network)

                              I had exactly the same problem with ST not picking up shots. The unit is very new, since I purchased in June and didn't use it much during the summer.

                              After the 3.0 upgrade on my iPad, it wasn't recording any shots (right or left handed).

                              Due to the few number of shots, figured it wasn't the hardware and it was working fine prior to 3.0.

                              I had to reset the unit to put in Direct mode.

                              Once in Direct mode, it started recording all shots.

                              Switched back to Network mode and seems better. I would say it still missed a couple of shots, but nothing more than normal.

                              Wonder if it has something to do with the network, but when it doesn't read none of the lights change and the laser dot doesn't disappear.

                              Hoping it is just a software issue that can be corrected with an upgrade.
