    Skytrak sees no WiFi networks

Just got my Skytrak today and cannot connect in Network Mode. When I scan for networks, not a single network appears at all, even when sitting just a few feet from my router. When I type in manually, the "Connect to Network" button is disabled. I have many neighbors who's networks I can see with my computer, but Skytrak not seeing a single network is quite odd.
Any ideas? The Wifi network is a 2.4ghz network.

Ah, i just got mine but nothing was discovered for me either. I just assumed i had to manually enter it.

    You aren't alone.

Yes I tired the same thing and it still does not connect. Now it is "stuck" in Network mode trying to connect to the network. It is flashing yellow so it must at least see it.
      Ugh!

I had that problem when I first got mine. Had to do a hard reset via the button on the bottom of the device to get it to stop the failed connection loop. Never was able to connect via network mode, but I wanted to use direct connection anyway.

Well looks like my hard reset button is also doing nothing. I hold it for 10,20,30 secs and nothing happens. Eventually the machine powers off.

Same exact thing happened to me... I eventually got the hard reset to work, I wish I could remember if I had done anything differently.

Sorry cannot help here...it has been so long since I hooked up my skytrak. I know we have direct mode with the USB cable but I wish they would add an Ethernet connection. I could not image it would cost that much.

The only thing I can think of is that in your router configuration, your router must have "broadcasting" enabled. As mentioned above, if broadcasting is not enabled, then you can always manually configure the network.

If it is flashing yellow, that means it sees the network but can't connect for some reason. After a bit (20-30 sec?), it should time out and then revert back to direct mode. Are you saying it just stays flashing yellow?

If your device will not reset, then that is a hardware issue which you will need to contact support about. Just make sure you are using something small enough to fit in that hole and you should feel/hear a little click - hold it down for 10 seconds and the unit should reset (all 3 lights turn yellow)

shooterMcG , any luck with broadcasting? Also with hard-resetting the unit?

Thanks All. I did end up having to get a replacement. The new unit is connecting to the Network fine so I am in business!

Mine does the same - no reset despite the click and holding it in for 10 seconds. Contacted support once about it wasn't in the things they were trained to help with.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like a hardware problem. Support should definitely be able to assist with getting your unit repaired/replaced. Please let me know if I can help.

Need to bump this as my skytrak just randomly stopped seeing any networks and I'm getting extremely frustrated. It will connect in direct mode, and then:

                  I click network mode
                  Click Network Setup Wizard
                  Click "Scan for Networks"
The Skytrak middle light blinks yellow, top light goes red
Eventually the middle light goes solid red
I back out, and it reconnects in direct mode

I've done a hard reset - no difference
I've renamed networks and tried manually adding networks but neither works

If I manually add a network - it will show up - but won't connect.

It was working for literally the last year or so - but now that it's out of warranty - it simply stopped working. WTF

Aaaaaand - now it's stuck in an endless "looking for network loop" where the yellow wifi light just blinks until it shuts down.

                    SkyTrak_Seth - please help

you will have to get away from the network its connected too. Either unplug your router or walk outside out of range. The SkyTrak will not reset if its stuck in that network loop.

                    Hello,

I also just received my skytrak last week and was initially seeing no available networks when scanning in network mode and was only using in direct mode. I randomly tried again a few days later and boom, it picked up all kinds of available wireless networks including my own and was able to connect. At first I was thinking it was an ip conflict between the skytrak and my xfinity wifi but not sure why the skytrak couldn’t find any surrounding (neighbors) networks either. Then I disabled the connection and tried to do it again and it could not find any available networks. Then after multiple restarts it again found all the available networks and connected via network mode and seems to be working fine. I’m scared to disable the network mode now because I don’t know why the network scanning only works every so often. Anyone have any solutions? I’m nervous that it could be a hardware issue with the skytrak and if I don’t do the warranty I could have this issue forever or be out a few grand!

                    thanks.

                    Ben

Make sure your network that you use for ST is the 2.4 band.
                  Working...
