  • Skytrak Alignment Hack

I came up with a way to make sure I always know exactly where the aim line is. My setup is in my garage and is "semi-permanent" so there are occasional times I will move it out of the way.
    • Built platform that sits to the side of my hitting mat
    • There is a "guiderail" piece of wood screwed to the platform
    • The skytrak is flush up against guiderail (and secured with bungees)
    • There is a piece of wood that is attached to the platform and this piece extends out in front of my hitting mat. This is the part with the red line on it
    • I painted a red line on the extension piece
    • The red line is parallel to guiderail and hence parallel to the skytrak unit
    • If the platform gets shifted a bit, the red stripe shifts along with the platform and I always know where my exact parallel target line is.
You can see in the 2 pics from behind that the platform is snug to the hitting mat in one pic and then shifted away from the mat in the other. The ball is on the laser dot and the red paint line shows my exact target line.

I also included a pic from the front looking backwards.

This target line has DRAMATICALLY helped me to know exactly where to aim and has drastically improved my offline performance.

My extension platform in front of my hitting mat is wood as I don't use my skytrak for putting. If you putt on skytrak and want grass in front, you can use the same exact approach and cover the front extension with turf and then figure out a way to paint your line on the turf.

I really like this setup as it has helped me out a ton.

Yeah thanks, I might do something similar with my set up!

One thing though your skytrak seems to be elevated substantially above your hitting surface. I thought this was a big no no when using skytrak. I thought it was supposed to be level.

The base of his ST looks to be pretty even with the hitting surface which should be good to go. The two black plaforms are of different height, but the red lined platform will have the hitting turf on top of it to make it level. That is how I’m seeing it at least.

teamacacia is exactly right. My hitting mat is perfectly level with the platform where the skytrak sits.

The piece that extends off the primary hitting platform where the skytrak sits is attached to the underside of the primary skytrak platform. For those that want turf to cover that portion, they have the room to do that.

I like how you did this. I currently have a hitting platform (to level out the garage slope) plus a secondary platform next to that that the ST sits on. I should probably secure the two together and put a could alignment aids (one on each platform as you did) to keep everything stuck in place. So far, I have my 5’x5’ hitting may shifitng throughout the hitting sessions moreso than the ST, but I spend a lot of extra time making sure that I’m aligned with the ST rather than just being able to hit.

Is your hitting platform shifting in the same direction all the time? My setup is in my garage as well and I ended up drilling two holes in the concrete and tapped in stainless steel anchors. Then i just hand screw in two bolts and put my mat up against them and my mat no longer moves. Quick and easy setup. If i were to do it again, I would just forego the anchors and drill the two holes and just drop in the bolts.

No, my platform isn’t shifting. It is a 5’x5’ solid wooden piece, I can lift it up on its side but have to use a 2 wheeler to move it around. It’s actually my mat that shifts around during hitting. I have some industrial velcro that I may try and use to keep the mat from shifting...the mat isn’t lite but it still moves about.

Nice work Little, and thanks for sharing !

One question : my mat always go forward after a couple of shot (fat shot ?? ) and I have to replace it few inch every "X" shots. With your setup, does your mat "push" your red Platform (and the skytrak Platform by extension ?).

My base by the way is 2 layers of 3/4 inch OSB, covered by 1/2 inch foam board, covered by the stance mat. It is pretty heavy and it stays put. If I had any issue with it sliding, I would probably lean towards velcro before I drilled holes in the concrete.

I guess it depends upon what your platform is sitting on. Mine sits on turf and no way you can install velcro with what I have. I probably could have tried the mat under it that's supposed to prevent rugs from slipping.

If it were up to me wbond:

          * I would remove garage door openers and the pesky garage door tracks that get in the way
          * I would place my sim more towards one of the corners
          * I would cover the entire garage floor in high quality putting turf
          * I would build a bathroom in my garage

This of course would require my wife to park outside and all of my kids toys to be placed in the shed.

The chances of this happening are zilch!

teamacacia I have a wood platform under my mat. I hold my mat to the platform with a few screws and some larger washers. My mat is 5x4 and I use 4 screws along the the edge closest to the screen and the edge furthers away. For me, these are never in the way of swinging the club. This holds the mat solidly to the platform. Just make sure you get the right size screw to get enough grab into the wood.

Little_Stickner thanks for that info. I have a box of 4” wood screw that I will use to do that this weekend.
        Working...
