    Any News of Updated Skytrack?

Now that Skytrack has been out for a few years, any rumblings about an updated version? Perhaps at the upcoming PGA show?

Ive had a little contact with Skytrak, and asked that same question. What i get is a "Perhaps," they are pretty tight lipped about their plans at this point. I guess we will see what happens at the trade show.

What sort of improvements could be made on the hardware side?

There really isnt much to pick up versus gc2 in the accuracy department. I think they have the sub gc2 market cornered anyhow. Alienating existing owners is never a good thing.

Having said that, there is always room for improvement in terms of accuracy, reduced misreads, and of course shot delay.

It is also possible that minor internal changes are already happening as better/cheaper components become available. If the production costs were to drop significantly, would they keep prices the same and reap huge margins, or would they drop price to grow the market? Right now there really isn't any competition in the price range. Flightscope is clearly interested in the consumer space, but they would need photometric solution to enter sim market due to excessive radar space requirements. Ernest? Maybe they will have something.

I am hoping for an add on like the HMT for GC2, at the very least, integration of their Skypro even though I don't like Skypro. I am also hoping for the promised back calculated clubspeed, smash factor improvements. It would take a lot of testing and data accumulation with a robot to determine a reliable relationship between spin, launch angle, spin axis and ball speed to determine that accurately but I am confident it can be done. Also, faster calc times so there is less delay with showing the shot.

An hmt add on wound be nice... But it is a very small market, and that market demands very high precision. The facility i practice at has a dual quad and TM4 setup.

Ball speed is nearly identical every time. Clubhead speed may differ slightly they measure a bit differently. But face angle can differ significantly, which is very frustrating. These are very difficult things to measure, especially determining momemt of impact.

Just curious, which one do y'all go with when the numbers don't agree?

Gary, I think consensus was to go with the quad, but that is far from conclusive, and there are tweaks and updates all the time.

I also did a testing outdoor with GC2 and Trackman. It looks like GC2 had the draw biased tendency where the ball went to the right in real life but gc2 says the ball drew or hooked. As it looks like skytrak also has this issue occasionally i wonder if gcquad will have the same draw bias. Did you check that morini?

hopefully they work on shot delay - all things considered, with the price point that skytrak has, its comparable to units more than double its cost. misreads i can only assume will come with more firmware updates. a HMT version is of course, always nice to have!

The shot delay is not a big deal on my iPhone 6s. It seems like that's gotten a smidge better since I've been a ST owner too..?

I personally would like to see improvement in the software focused on game improvement or challenges. This is an area the simulators don't touch and another potentially another revenue stream. Right now they have the basic driving range for no cost, game improvement, and simulator integration. One more category like advanced game improvement would be welcome by me. Things like the 9 ball flight challenge, the ability to have several game improvement challenges, etc. I would pay for that.

I'll echo that; I think the ability to give a distance range (say 30 to 120) and increments (5-15 yrds) and then have it give you random targets. This would differentiate them from the GC2 software as well since the skills challenge is the same every time. Golf in the real world is random, it'd be nice to have an easy way to practice that way.

I have only been using my ST since Christmas and I was expecting the delay in seeing your shot would be annoying. However, I think it is a good thing because it gives me time to make sure my ball isn't bouncing away and I think there is a good rhythm and pace between shots.

Good point. I haven't purchased a sim yet but was leaning Skytrak given mostly positive reviews. I was concerned about the delay (3-4 seconds) but your point make sense in that it's maybe not such a bad thing.

I kinda like the delay, it lets me guess my shot shape based off the feel of the shot. And then curse everything/everyone under the sun if it's not what I expected!

This too! I play the game of 'man that felt like a great strike, huh I hooked it'.

My personal preference would be the delay be an option. On the range, I would likely set a delay so I don't just wail on balls one after the other, in simulator play, I would want it instant to make things feel more real.

So I would like them to somehow correct the computational delay, but then add a manual timer delay as an option for the range.

It would be great to have greater ability to customize your green size. (Is it so hard to make a option to select a round green and then select the diameter?)

I also like the 9 shot shape option. Great drill.

An HMT like attachment would be great for accurate club head speed. Would that make its ball flight more accurate?
