  • Optimal System Setup Recomemndation

I am looking to purchase a Sky Trak launch monitor for a lake house this month. My primary objective is to play a few rounds when it rains or during the cold winter months. My primary requirements are as follows:

    1. Realistic game play for a round of golf
    2. Strong visual design
    3. Multiple golf courses to choose from
    4. Game play for multiple players including left and right hand golfers

I want to setup a golf hitting screen with a short throw projector in a room in the basement which is 10 feet by 14 feet with 9 foot ceilings. This forum has been extremely helpful and based on the various topics I have read through this is the proposed setup I am considering.

    1. Sky Trak launch monitor with Game Improvement Package
    2. Optoma GT1080 short throw projector
    3. Carl's golf simulator screen
    4. Country club elite golf mat
    5. The Golf Club Game simulator package
    6. PC with Windows 10

Any positive or negative feedback anyone can provide on my proposed setup is greatly appreciated.

I would recommend a Fiberbuilt mat and I can’t recommend the Carl’s Preferred. The image quality for me is garbage. I do like the bounce back that I get with it, it’s minimal, but the picture quality isn’t as good as my cheap Supertex was/is. I’ve turned my worn out Supertex over and hung it it front of the Carl’s Preferred. If I ever got a Carl’s again, I would try the Premium material.

And if you want left and right handed play I would highly recommend this mat:

I would second the Fiber Built or Divot Action mat (or the DIY Divot Action). Many users of the CCE mat that take a divots have had wrist issues due to the strike.

I really think switching between right and left on SkyTrak (or any camera based launch monitor) is tough. If you have the space and money, i would look at radar based solutions like the TrackMan.

I agree with the Fiber Built mat, love mine. I'm about to get a new projector and I'm thinking about the Optoma GT1080 Darbee as well. Costco has a good price on it and you get a 2 year warranty with it if you buy from them as well as a 90 day no questions asked return policy.
I have the SkyTrak and I'm pretty happy with it. The lefty thing is no big thing for me I have patterns set up for it and just drop it in place takes seconds. There are some topics and posts that discuss this in detail a lot of them recent.
I bought one of the hitting bays from All Sports Systems. Good product and great service. I upgraded to the high def screen. I'm happy with it, but to be honest, I've only been using it for a couple of months, and I don't know enough about it to be able to give a review one way or another.
I have TGC and I'm really happy with it. I've tried the demos that are available for the other sim software and I'm still happy with TGC.

I would get on the direct from mill thread to get your screen if you're not needing it right away. Great screen and great pricing.
