  • Best ways to practice and improve?

Still semi new to the Skytrak and I wanted to get your guys' feedback of the best ways to practice and practice routines. What game modes in skytrak would you use or are there useful ways to practice in TGC as well?

I am new to the ST too and only have WGT since I use an iPad. I enjoy doing the Skills Assessment with my wedges and short irons. I will set the distances out and choose GW, PW, 9i, and 8i. I am not talented enough or consistent enough with my longer irons or woods. Hopefully that will come with some time and experience.

For myself, the first thing I did with my SkyTrak was go to the stock driving range and starting with my lob wedge, I worked my way up through my bag hitting 10 balls with each club so I could determine my average carry distance with each iron. This alone will greatly help your real golf game when you "know" how far that club will actually carry. The bag mapping feature is great for this too, but I tend to just use the driving range as there is really no set up for it.

I spend a lot of time on TGC as well. Normally just doing the same thing I do with the SkyTrak alone, just on different driving ranges, but I do find myself playing a round here or there, or playing in a tournament so I am faced with different shots instead of just hitting the same club.

There really are a lot of options you can do, just find out what works best for you, and above all, is FUN for you.

It looks as if a random practice mode is coming to Skills Assessment.

Trying to make it interesting for my kids, I came up with a number of games to play. For example, I made randomly generated bingo cards with numbers from 50 to 150. The criteria is that to x the square, shots have to carry within 2 yards 50 to 74, 3 yards 75-99, and 4 yards 100-125 and so on. The kids take turns hitting, until someone gets their bingo.
