  • Skytrak Laser Blinking repeatedly

So whenever I have the ST plugged in to the usb for charging or directly to laptop it blinks repeatedly since ive upgraded to 3.1 beta

It works flawlessly in network mode as long as its not plugged in and running off of battery - Ive used a few different usbs as well. Any clues as to what might be going on? SkyTrak_Seth

Not sure if it is the same issue but sounds a bit similar to what another member ran into. Ended up being interference from a power strip. Here is the thread that you can read through. Final solution is on the third page with the new power strip he bought.

Does it work ok if you go back to v3.0.2? I can't see how anything could have changed...

I had similar problems as noted above. To clarify, I had my SkyTrak plugged into a surge protector when I experienced the blinking..it just wasn't good enough apparently at keeping down the electrical noise. The new one fixed me up. Good luck to you.

I've had the same problem. I tried every imaginable idea posted online about this subject. Nothing worked long term. So, I did what I should have done from the onset of the issue....contacted customer service at skygolf (you must have an account set up with them first which I'm assuming you do since you own a skytrak).
Be sure to chat with tech. first. If he cant help then he'll elevate the issue to someone else who will access your computer remotely and fix the problem somewhere in the programming recesses. This is what I did and all is working perfectly. No flashing or lost laser light!!

I can't not think of anything that could be done remotely. The skytrak hasn't had a firmware update in many years, and clearly not a software fix. It is usually static that causes the blinking, and is associated with USB. If you the issue or not depends on amount of static in your environment, which in turn depends on geographic location, season, type of mat, FMJ, and who knows what else. Easiest way to avoid it is not to use USB.

My buddy has this issue and it was frustrating him to no end whenever he used the FMJ. We figured out it was because he wasn't screwing in the ST unit to the FMJ and just placing it in, causing issues with the camera's being fully visible to the hitting surface.
