    Putting & pitching with SkyTrack

Skytrack works pretty good except putting and pitching and chipping. Never works for me. I saw a post where someone mentioned CG3D really helped with that. What is it and how does it work with Skytrack?

what issues are you having. Putting seems to work for me across multiple sim packages. The best for short game in my opinion is e6. I find the rollout in TGC to be a little high, but you just have to learn to adjust for it.

Now, I am not one to use the SIM to know exactly how my shots act in real golf, but mostly to keep my swing going and to have some fun. has my game approved - you bet. 1st year by 3 strokes in real golf. 2nd year only 1 stoke but my lost ball count was much lower, This year so far, will drop another 3 strokes. I am also getting lessons this year.

      HI

CG3D is Creative Golf 3D simulation software, which you can by from SKytrak there is also a demo available for skytrak which is not good, but you can google a demo for the GC2 which gives you a much better idea of what the software can do. You can only use the GC2 demo by click through game play with a mouse, but its pretty much the same when using skytrak in my opinion. Has some european putting courses on the software package and the practice area allows you to chip, pitch, putt to different pins etc...you can also pick a location on a course and practice from that spot to a pin location etc....

      try the GC2 demo.

Skytrak was originally developed as a launch monitor. With the integration of Skytrak into sim software, the putt and chip option has been added. Unfortunately, this functionality is not very powerful and reliable. I would expect more accuracy and reliability reading than strokes where the ball moves at high speed. It is commendable that Skytrak is constantly improving the launch monitor software. Certainly, however, most users would apreciate if Skytrak's significant improvement in putt and chip functionality.

I actually find the putting to be very good. The chipping can give some wonky numbers some time, but overall, very good for sim play.

I find chipping to be "OK" as long as it is not a short chip (<25-30ft). Short chips go too long or don't read. Putting from the fringe doesnt apper to be an option. All putts from off the green on my system are no-reads. As for putts on green, the distance seems reasonable ( not good, but liveable), however, the direction on my system is horrific. On a 10 ft putt, I have to aim at least 3 ft left to get the putt to go straight. I just give up and let the computer calculate the putts. At this point, I have learned to "make the chips work" by hitting just hard enough to register and have the computer calculate the putts. I would love to the work on my short game in a SIM environment, but have not had any luck to date. Any suggestions.

The number of unread chips and putts decreased in my unit when I started placing the ball about 1 inch closer to the screen and 1 inch closer to the unit than the red dot. For these shots, you need to try a different ball position than the red dot.

It would be most appropriate if SKYTRAK focus all its force on firmware improvements for these short shots.
