  • Chipping practice skytrak

I was wondering what most people do for chipping practice on their skytrak? do you just normally set the target up a shorter distance oris there something else that would be better?

What are you trying to do with chipping practice? Just monitor carry, spin and direction? If so, doing the target practice should suffice. I would do more than 10yds though since as the ball speeds go down so does horizontal accuracy.

was trying to practice bump and run, but seems not as easy to do on the practice greens.. i was hitting on a qc quad the other day and they had tons of good stuff for practicing chipping and pitching. it would be nice to have some options specific for for that in skytrak game improvement package. in tgc, are there any practice greens where you can do that?

I tried chipping as soon as I received my ST. I was hoping to experiment with different techniques and be able to analyze spin. I had serious trouble getting it to read, and when it did, results were suspect. In any case, chipping is feel, and IMO chipping without a real green as a target has limited benefit for game improvement.

However, i do think pitching to a set number is a great way to use the ST. My son struggles with 30-60 yard pitches, so we hit the ST hard in this range. Now he is like a machine. Check lie. Measure yardage. Choose club. Pick landing spot. Adjust for wind. Adjust for elevation. 41 yards. Execute.

He is not a big 13 year old, weighs just over 90 pounds, but has to play mens tees this year. With the long par 4's he often comes up short. My question is how short can you pitch on ST before you get unreliable results (as in more than a yard or two off)? Right now I only trust it above 30 yards. I'd like to go down to 20. I brought my home mat to an open space outside to investigate this. It was too windy, but will try again. Has anyone else tried something like this?

I've got something on the radar for chipping. Our next release will be a big step towards it
