  • DO NOT Remove the protective film cover??

So I just got my skytrak and this warning was in the document bag. Its referring to the thin film ( i assume) on the front of the skytrak under the aperture area. The film has bubbles in it etc. I cant imagine wanting to keep this piece of plastic on...

Polycarbonate and plastics do not play well with ammonia. I would never use cleaners with ammonia like Windex on them. It will eventually cloud and haze it.

        Novus is usually recommended:

Typically, I have a water bottle in the garage. I just some on a paper towel and wipe off the dust.

I don't think any of us are using it in a fabrication shop.

Hey all, sorry for the confusion. There are actually 2 films.

One is a flimsy clear film with pull tabs - this typically has bubbles in it and is only for protection during shipping and handling. You want to pull these off before use.

The second film is a much harder nano film and is designed to protect the lens from scratches in the field. This film does not have pull tabs and should not be removed.

SkyTrak_Seth Can your statement become a sticky?

I believe this question has been asked several times. I'm fairly certain its in the user manual that comes with the unit.

I don't have that kind of power

I'll see if there's anything I can do to make things more clear in the user guide. It's obviously confusing to people.
