Laser dot not working on skytrak

I have had my skytrak for just over a year. it has worked well for most of the year with the occasional reset required. I pretty much only hit in the driving range mode in an enclosed garage.

While hitting in my garage two days ago, the laser dot faded and eventually disappeared after about 70 shots. I was able to continue hitting by placing the ball where the laser dot had been. When I returned the next day, the laser was still missing, but it would not register a shot. I have tried resetting the hardware, reinstalling the app, and tried a different ipad. Nothing worked. I then ran the battery completely dead, and when I recharged it, I could get the laser to appear when placed in left hand mode. This only lasted for three shots, and it disappeared as well. Any thoughts?

Sounds power/battery related. What does the battery indicator say? Have you tried it while externally powered?

Yikes, I haven't seen anyone mention anything like that. Maybe SkyTrak_Seth has some ideas?

I've never heard of a laser going out. Any chance it got hit by a golf ball? Whether is it laser or battery related, it sounds to me like it may need to go back in for repair unfortunately.

Same thing happened to mine last week. The laser dot started fading during a practice session to the point that it could just barely be seen. If the unit was put into alignment mode, the left hand laser dot was bright as normal and the right hand was still barely seen. I called support and they had me send it in for repairs. Luckily, I still had 5 days left on the warranty. Just hoping it's a speedy process.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried it plugged in and it still does not work. It was never hit by a ball. It just faded during the one session and has not worked since.

I called customer support, and they said send it in.

Problem is that I have a tournament next week, and I need the practice. I have been able to use the unit by just placing the ball where the laser dot would have been. The left hand dot still works, and I use this to know where to place the ball. It still freezes up after about fifty shots. I’m interested to see what the fix will be.

I got mine back last week from the exact same issue. They had to replace the laser. I have no idea the price since mine was under warranty. Turnaround time was only 12 days though. I figured it would take longer. You'll be back up and running in no time.

Same thing just happened to me. I had decided to swap out the FMJ for the orignal case to see if it affected readings. I got it in the old case and the light was barely visible. It also kept getting darker and darker. It showed it had 52% battery life. I'm out of my warranty at this point as well.

I was on the range, and i may have accidentally powered it off while moving. I definitely had to power it back on and go back through the main menu to pair again.

As a follow-up. I was quoted a minimum of $200 for the repairs for mine. The laser IS technically still functioning, just darker than normal. I think I'll hold out until the laser goes out completely. If I can set it in a repeatable spot i may be able to figure out where the laser should be, and where to place the ball, even if it goes out completely.

My wife die not play garage golf with me because the laser light really bothers her. The other indicator lights are an issue as well. I have used Velcro and leather to cover the lights. We know where to place the bell. It works well. Does anyone see an issue when doing this?

AFAIK the laser serves no other function, so should be no issues.
