My PGA instructor and I were discussing different sims and he obviously knows I have a ST. He told me if I don't have JNPG by June 15th I will not be able to use JNPG with ST. Apparently Trackman bought Perfect Parallel and they plan to eliminate options for their competitors. Does anyone have any insight into this rumor?

I'm really disappointed with this news. I have JNPG already and can apparently renew indefinitely but it means I won't be able to play PG2.

Who knows if any of us will ever play PG2. I'm just gonna keep enjoying PG and TGC for the time being and see what TGC 2019 brings to the sim side. I don't have much faith in TM letting us mortals pay $250 to play their newly acquired software when its finally ready.

I've been on the fence to pay the $250 and try out PG as a comparison. I think I will pass at this point. As someone above points out it seems much more likely they will pull the plug on SkyTrak users at some point in the future .. it would not make business sense to maintain that feature indefinitely with no revenue stream.

How long do you think that is going to last? If they truly wanted to support SkyTrak indefinitely as they say at this moment then why cut off extra revenue by discontinuing new licensing?

This feels to me like they don't want to completely screw over SkyTrak users. I would be amazed if they have the same policy after a year or two.

Legacy systems eventually get too expensive to deal with and you put a bullet in them. My software guy $0.02...

Indefinite means unknown. It does not mean forever. Although with no “costs” and some revenue maybe if they get enough revenue to cover incidental costs they will keep it alive while people still use it as good faith to the community. It’s been done in other industries, just not gaming.

Makes you wonder if Trackman is coming out with a low cost device to compete with ST.

This is the only possible scenario where this makes business sense.
Trackman and ST are not the same market. As others have stated, they are legit just cutting out a market for no reason.

I think trackman angle is they want there software to be unique to trackman users only. Meaning, if you want their software then you have to get trackman.

Previously, I had no urge to try JNPG since I have been happy with TGC and skytrak software. Now that that option is ending, I am debating to pay the 250 just to keep my options open.

I agree, TM’s software is very unique and from my point of view industry leading. Part of the reason to justify their pricing is based on how could their software is. Thus, I don’t see the issue with them wanting to keep the software for themselves as I suspect they have other revenue streams that they may like to explore with this software as well. I also suspect they want to use their limited resources efficiently and thus have them focus on TM product and users.

This sucks if true! I just purchased a skytrak and building sim in garage right now. Did a month of research and finally picked jnpg, oh well I guess I’ll go with TGC now, or what would you guys recommend now?

I have them all over the last year TGC, JNPG and e6. e6 is rock solid but does not have John the announcer and no ghost players. JNPG has ghost players but recorded rounds but is the most flaky for me and my cubs go 10 to 20 less distance. I did not renew e6 and JNPG expires next week - I do not plan to extend. TGC has about 10 course I like on it and I play those. I am hoping I will have time to play the next tour. Also 2019 looks really good.

I recommend buying JNPG. Right now it's the best sim software for the skytrak and cheaper than the alernatives. At the very least you'll give other software a year to catch up and you might get 2+ years before you have to switch.

TM have just released some promo videos of the sim software as well as another indoor sim centre and it all looks pretty good. I think if you have the opp to get the software you may want to pull the trigger.

Even if you bought JNPG now, I cannot imagine they are going to be "supporting" your edition as they shift to focus on Trackman. It might be good for a year or so, but afterward that, I cannot imagine they would spend time/money on a unit that has no new revenue.

i have been using both tgc and jnpg for some time now and i don't see the current version of jnpg going away. I don't think perfect parallel has spent any time or money to support jnpg in a long time now. most of the courses have and will continue to come from the user base and support is provided by the community as well.

I would guess support would disappear as new operating systems come online or new versions of skytrak would be released. I guess time will tell.

Sorry, but is the $250 not an annual subscription? Thus, if TM eventually pulls the software in a year or two down the road, what have people lost?

based on the way I unsdersand the two emails I received from skytrak you would need to pay 250 this year to use it, then 250 every year after that.
