  • Locked up unit?

Guys, I have an early skytrak unit that has worked great now for a long time (almost 4 years!!), I use it with TGC, CG3D and the skytrak app on my PC. Just the other day it came on and stayed with the power button green and both the other lights red. It will not connect to any device ( I have tried several), and will not come out of this state no matter what I do.

Before I go and speak to skygolf's tech support which is always so much fun, I thought I would run it by the group and see if anyone has experienced this, I know about the reset button on the bottom and have tried that with process with no luck.

I have a bad feeling about this, but won't be too upset if I have to get an RGA and send it in, it has worked well for a long time.

    Ken.

I've never heard of a unit locked up before...are you able to turn it off? Does it show its SSID in your network list?

While on, if you depress the reset button for 10 seconds, it still won't reset? If that's the case, then unfortunately it does sound like it may need to go back.

I had an issue with my ST not connecting via wifi and the unit would not reset. It turned out that my router was "stuck" and needed to be reset. I usually use the 5Ghz for everything besides the ST (where you have to use the 2.4Ghz), so I didn't know that the lower band was not working. After I reset the router, the ST was able to connect. Worth a try before you send it in. This has helped others.

      Good luck!

Seth, good to hear from you, there is no SSID network being shown. I direct connect via USB to my computer so the router issue should not be a problem, but just for good measure I will give it a try. Yes, I can turn it on and off but it will not change status and no device will recognize it, it literally just stays in that condition with no change at all no matter how long I hold down the reset button.

Seth, what is the best way to get a hold of someone who can issue me an RGA and get this process underway? and how much are we talking here? I have had the unit as you know for almost 4 years it was the very first one sent out, is there any kind of a trade in program on a new unit? Hey I have to ask right.

I'm not really the right person to ask on trade-ins, but I don't think there's anything in the hardware that would warrant ditching your unit. To me, it almost sounds like the Wi-Fi module has gone bad. I would suggest calling the support number (866) 759-4653 and explaining the problem and just mention you spoke with me on the forum about sending it in.

Did you try resetting your router?

Genghis thanks for the help, and yes I did to no avail unfortunately. I can't complain to loudly here, this was literally the first unit shipped here in the U.S. and it has performed admirably. Seth, thanks for your input, I will give them a call and get the process started, going to kill me not to have this for a while!!

It was worth a shot... good luck and I hope you get your ST back up and working quickly. At least there is real golf to play...

Update, the camera modules had to be reconnected to the mother board at the factory, total cost including re-calibration $350.00. After 4 years I am good with this and will take another 4 years of life from this point hopefully.

Sounds like a reasonable turn around for the factory fix.

Wow, thanks for the update. Did it take a shot with a golf ball or something?
