    v3.2.2 Unit Connection Problems

    Hi all,

I just arrived back from vacation to find there were numerous issues in the field with unit connection with v3.2.2. What we found last night is that the manufacturer changed the 32-bit SDK to use Visual C++ 2012 instead of 2010 and did not inform us of this change. This is why it works fine on computers that happen to have that installed. On computers that are missing Visual C++ 2012, the app would not initiate searching for the SkyTrak unit.

Right now, you can install that package here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=30679. *You must select and install the (x86) version for 32-bit. (the 64-bit app already has this 2012 package in the installer).

I'm working to get the website download link updated with a new installer package that will install 2012 with the 32-bit version of the app. Should be up later today or tomorrow.

    Very sorry for the inconvenience.

What went into this release? The language was very vague... Thanks!

Only the newly embedded SDK to go along with the firmware upgrade (a few tweaks on the hardware side to make certain components operate more efficiently - this is typically what firmware updates are).

Forgive my ignorance, but I have only had Apple products since 2006 until I recently got a gaming laptop to be able to play TGC. Is there a way to check the laptop to see if it has the Visual C++ 2012 instead of 2010?

For sure. Just go into Control Panel>Programs and Features. You will see all the installed Microsoft Visual C++ packages in there.

Thanks Seth- and in terms of positive feedback the online chat team were really helpful once they realised I wasn’t asking about the basics and there was something clearly wrong!

I don't see the 64 bit as an option on the downloads page, only the 32?

That's my fault. While I was on vacation, I made the call to remove 64-bit from the website because we thought that's where the problem was. In fact, it was just the 32-bit SDK that changed. So now both require their respective Visual C++ 2012 package and should be good to go. Will get it back up asap.

Thanks, the 64 bit was an option and I just downloaded.

                  FYI:....

Initially after installing the 64 bit version my computer was not able to connect to the skytrak unit even after power cycling and restarting both the unit and my computer. I had previously downloaded the C++ 2012 but only for the 32 bit.
I then closed the skytrak program, turned off the unit and went ahead and downloaded the 64 bit C++ from the link in the first post.
After restarting my computer, I loaded up everything and it all connected and worked perfectly.

Just thought I'd let everyone know in case they are still having an issue.

Yeah, the Visual C++ packages are specific to either 32-bit or 64-bit.
