    Possible new owner questions

    Hi all

I have a garage studio with flightscope xi. The flightscope is great although I now want an option to play courses and this is a costly option for flightscope

i'm thinking of getting a used skytrak on eBay, all the videos I have watched seem to praise the accuracy of the skytrak especially considering the price

is WGT a good sim option? It looks great and I like how it can be used with iPad

are there different/newer versions of the skytrak? If so, will the skypro integrate with all skytrak versions?

any other things to know before taking the plunge?

    cheers

Yes. There are posts about this.

there is only one hardware unit being sold currently. Software newest version 3.2.2 (app is free) but need a subscription for anything useful. Skypro integrates. It will read the club whereas the SkyTrak is only concerned with the ball.

any other things to know before taking the plunge?
I would just read the forums before taking the plunge to see if it’s right for you. Excellent customer service.

The WGT is a less expensive option. If your only interested in full shots, then its ok. Chipping and putting aren't realistic IMHO.

If your're looking for a screen and projector. You will be limited to buying a 4:3 projector or projecting a 4:3 image on a 16:9 device. The IPAD can only do 4:3 and its not HD. Claims to be HD, but you can't get 1080p out of the lighting cable.

You could use an Iphone, but there will be some delay.

I used strictly the Skytrak app and WGT for about six months on my iPad Pro before I got TGC. WGT is a decent beginner sim, but there are some downsides. WGT is limited to the amount of courses you can play and you're also only able to play one player at a time. You can't play against anyone on WGT and like Triplebogeysrbetter mentioned chipping/putting isn't good at all. If you want to view WGT as a fun way to practice, hit your driver, then long iron, then wedge onto the green.

I was as happy as could be with my iPad and Skytrak set-up. I don't think you would regret getting a Skytrak. Good luck!

Many thanks for the helpful replies. I have done some more research and have bought a used skytrak. I will update you on how I am getting on and compare the numbers to my flightscope

Hi again. So I received my skytrak and purchased the improve and play package. There are many things I'm impressed by but I'm having an issue. I play a draw but I feel the unit is reading far more right to left shape than I'm hitting, some severe hooks, I have tried to get the unit lined up as square as possible and it is the same height as the hitting mat

            any thoughts?

            cheers

            Pedro

The unit only reads the ball so it’s most likely not lined up — have you done the alignment mode to ensure it’s aligned to your mat and target line? Give that a shot.
