Skytrak Hardware Upgrade

I'm thinking of taking advantage of the current sale but I'm a little worried the sale might mean there is a new Skytrak hardware version just around the corner. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

Skytrak and it’s authorized retailers regularly run sales around holidays. Can’t go wrong with a $300 discount.

For what it’s worth, I’m not sure Skygolf needs to update Skytrak hardware at the moment, it delivers on a lot of fronts relative to peer products and it could disrupt their current customer pay and subscriber model if they were to pull or lessen support to launch a next gen product. New hardware could raise flags with the current paying subscriber base which is the gem and cash cow to their biz, recurring revenue on less investment. I think it’s very similar to the game console manufacturers and the online subscriptions, except at this price point this is where it differs. Upgrading a game console $300 hardware easy investment for the masses, spending $2k+ on a new golf launch monitor, not so much.

Skygolf should continue to focus on the software. Updating the software regularly will allow them to harvest the big investment into the hardware and service model, remain competitive in the market and appease users to keep them sticky.

The hardware is not perfect but I’m sure GC2, Trackman, etc. have hardware flaws or other issues that arise (I don’t follow those threads) but it’s fantastic at what it needs to do in my opinion.

This current discount is simply a promotion to expand the user base, not the precursor to new hardware. Just my speculative 2 cents. Thoughts?

I would really like a new Skytrak that includes club head data! This would most certainly disrupt the whole market for launch monitors.
Looking forward to next generation hardware whenever that will be released.

the only thing that i would change so far is the micro usb... i wish it has a type C or a full size... with that would come slight increase in speed
