    picking out a launch monitor

I’m looking to get me son a launch monitor. Basically my wants are Bluetooth capability so data can be displayed on an iPad, driclving range mode so shots show up as a shot, not just data, and somewhat decent accuracy.
I know a Skytrak will give me all of this but I’m trying to avoid spending $2000.
    Anyone have and advice?

With the iPad connectivity, I would think ES 12, ES 14 and Mevo are more cost effective ways to get started for your child, for basic data points. There are a number of online reviews on YouTube as well as this blog.

You could find these devices on eBay for cheaper prices (used) or look for coupons from some of the online vendors. Flightscope has been known to run sales on Mevo.

I don't know of any inexpensive launch monitors that would show ball flight. You could look at Rmotion which clips onto your club, but that won't actually measure the ball. If you have a PGA Tour Superstore near you, they have a program where you pay $100/year to use their GC2s (at least the one by me does). It isn't as convenient as having it at home, but you will get high quality data.

All depends on what data you think is important to have. Mevo is the only thing that will give reasonably accurate data for less money - BUT the data it does show is limited compared to SkyTrack. No side spin or shot shape capability (so makes any kind of ball flight display a bit pointless). Basically just club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, total spin, and distance.

Buy a skytrak during a sale to get it down to 1700. I think there is a sale now. Anything less than a skytrak won't give accurate ball flights
