Skytrak pc setup

Hello All

Im currently using my Skytrak via my iPad....But not loving the connection etc.

Its in the basement and I hit into the Net-return and its very close to the WiFi router

So i would like to hardware it and use a laptop.

Do i hard-wire the laptop and the Skytrak?

You could do skytrak to laptop via usb (usb mode). You then can see if laptop to network solves it or hardwire the laptop with Ethernet to the router.

My 2 cents, I just got a an MSI laptop and now use Skytrak exclusively in usb mode. My laptop still wirelessly connects to the router. I run an HDMI to a tv as a duplicate display. I’ve noticed a slight improvement in the skytrak shot delay, which never really bothered me anyway (and preferred).

Does anyone know whether opening the software or turning on the skytrak first matters for connecting? Does it matter?

I use mine in network mode and have found if I open the app first it won’t find the Skytrak. I have to turn on Skytrak and wait until middle light is yellow then open app or the app just searches indefinitely.

Gresh12 my PC is hard wired to the network. Should the Skytrak still find my PC and connect via network mode?

I may be misunderstanding but if your Skytrak is wired to your PC and PC to your network then I wouldn’t expect you’d be using network mode on the Skytrak (I’ve never used direct USB connect myself as my PC is in another room so I’m speculating here).

If your PC is hardwired and you are doing wireless Skytrak (what I do for TGC) then yes your Skytrak will be in network mode and connect via wifi and the hardwired PC will connect just fine. The finicky connection issues I’ve found personally are with the iPad but my PC connects consistently regardless the order I turn things on.

Your Skytrak will not find the “pc” it will find your wireless network.
The only way it will “find” the pc is through usb mode or through “direct” mode. Direct mode is an offline connection.
