  • Any SkyPro users? Is it worth it?

I'd really like to add to my practice sessions. Sure, the SkyTrak gives me the numbers, but I am not really seeing the cause of those numbers. So I was looking for something that is fairly easy to use (this will be used on an Android (Samsung) device, unless it is possible to run the app on a Windows 10 PC) and could give me the data in a way where I can see what it is I need to correct. Outside of calibration possibly being a pain, the SkyPro "seems" to fit that bill, but I would really like some user feedback and impressions if I could.

I know it is "supposed" to integrate with the SkyTrak, but I don't know to what success it does from some things I've read. What I am more interested in is what it provides to the user. Is the data easy to understand? Some of the stuff I've seen on the web site looks pretty cool, like the 3D swing display. I guess what I'm really trying to find out is that for your average mid handicap golfer, can this device really benefit them? Does it provide "advice" on what to do to correct any flaws it detects, or are you on your own trying to figure out how to get more shaft lean, etc.

For $150 it could be a good investment if it can really help fix flaws. Any experiences you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve had 1 for a year it worked pretty well. I then quit playing for a couple years and it quit working when I tried it again. I bought another one on Amazon recently and it would not connect. I returned it for another one. The next one worked, but would not charge again after the intitial charge. The control board looked like it was off center so the charging prongs would not connect. I gave up and returned it for a refund. It appears to be a cheaply made product. There are a lot of poor reviews of the product. I am going to try the R- motion next for club data. I would not recommend the Sky Pro.

Yes, I have read some bad reviews, which is why I posted here so I know I am hearing from REAL people that are using it and what their experiences have been. SO by what you have said, you used it 3-4 years ago initially. Hopefully in that time that have made some improvements, but you also seem to say it worked pretty well for you when it was working. I guess for $150 if I can get a solid year out of it, it would be way cheaper than a year worth of lessons! Thanks for the reply!

I've had no issues with mine. I have used it along side trackman and although not identical the stats are close enough to keep me and my coach happy for when I practice at home.

I have had mine for almost a year now and I can see the things I’m working on with my coach take hold or if I need to focus a bit more on them. Have had no issues with the integration to my skytrak either.

Thanks for the reply! I have heard of issues integrating with SkyTrak, you are one of the few that seem to have no issues. May I ask what platform you are running the SkyTrak software on, and what platform you are running the SkyPro on? I would be using the SkyTrak on a Windows laptop, and the SkyPro on a Samsung S9+ (Android) phone. Thanks!

Ive had one for about 2 months. Personally I believe it is a phenomenal device for the price. I wouldn't necessarily intergrate the data into skytrak...all you would really be doing is adding swing speed, not worth the hassle when you can see the data on your tablet in real time anyway. Not to mention it is interesting to see how the 2 sets of data compare. Sometimes they are identical but more often than not the ST and skypro swing speeds (SS) are way off. SSs are so overrated anyway. I get it, if you don't know where your numbers are certainly you need a baseline, but then what? Its similar to guy who works out but doesn't know how much he can bench, so he maxes 315 on bench and 275 on incline .. ok .. now what? lol. My weak analogy of SS with driver and then with irons.
My point is if you are buying it for SS..Don't...skytrak overtime will give you a reliable avg. Now if you really want to SEE your swing (be careful, once you see it... it cant be erased from your mind LOL) its second to none. Never understood these guys with mirrors behind them and at setup...last I checked you cant look in the mirror while swinging driver. This device will show you every angle of your swing in 360 degrees.. its really amazing. personally I love the plane feature, for someone that comes back too inside and down a bit too outside its great feedback when practicing. A lot of fun when friends come over to show them what you have been UNSOLICTED been telling them for years about their awful swing. lol. Works wonders with the putter.
Cons... way too much data for the avg guy and obviously has to be attached to the club you are swinging at the time and calibrated....doesn't take long but annoying nonetheless.
All in all I say yes. Can give you that SS benchmark you may want to know and certainly will give you a birdseye view of your swing that you really have, not the one you you think you have. If you do get one please let us know what you think

Thank you for such a great reply Lynchdpm! May I ask what device you use with it? I'm really worried about the platform I need to run it on. I have a Samsung S9+ phone I plan to run it on, but I can use an Android tablet as well if needed. I guess I could pick up a basic iPad if I have to, but I don't really want to. LOL

My main reason for wanting this is as an older golfer, I was starting to develop some back pain. After much research I decided one thing I could do was give one length irons a try, as a single plane could have great benefits on my back. Well, after a month of having one length irons, I am sold! I actually gained some distance, my gaps between clubs are better, and my back has been feeling great! I just REALLY need to build a more consistent swing, and I think the SkyPro may be the cheapest way for me to accomplish that! Thanks again!

Oh yeah, I'm not really all that concerned about swing speed, just a more consistent swing!

Currently I use it with 1st generation ipad air as well as an ipad touch which is easier to carry and calibrate due to its small size. I was able to download the app on my Samsung note 3 but perhaps because of the age of the phone it will not work. If you check out ...you tube.... "Garage Golf" they did a piece on skypro and they had difficulty with newer android devices as well, not sure if that has been resolved. The plane concept of course became famous in ben hogans book, but to see your own swing between the 2 planes of glass is really cool. What is really shocking is the breakdown of the swing from 7 iron to driver when you superimpose them over each other on the app. Therefore single length clubs are intriguing. In fact I just hit the F9 single length one hybrids at Dicks (sporting goods store on east coast of US) this week.. I may pull the trigger

I think skypro rocks. I was able to make some swing changes with it. When I was going to work on my swing I would attach it to my 7 iron and go to work on the skytrak driving range. I really worked on length of swing, swing tempo, positions at the top and back back. Now that I have my swing where I want it ill get it out randomly and make sure i'm still where i want to be.
    Instant feedback
    Never selling mine!

Does the skypro work with Android devices? I thought there were issues, but maybe they fixed the Android SkyPro App?

My skypro battery died. The replacement cost was almost as much as a new device, so i opened it up, got the battery specs, and ordered a new one on Amazon for a couple of bucks. It took about 20 minutes to install.

After going through all of your valuable feedback, and doing some more in depth research, there are some down sides I found out about SkyPro's app. First of all, I finally found on their website the supported devices and the latest version of Samsung they support is the Samsung Galaxy S5. The app itself was last updated in March 2016. That's unfortunate as for the price, the SkyPro look like exactly what I wanted.

I just called sky golf and they said they just sold the last of their skypros and won't be carrying them anymore??? So when mine no longer works ill have to find something different unless somebody else will carry them? Im not sure if skypro is made by sky golf or not???

Yep! Just saw on their web site that they are no longer in stock. Well that sucks! I guess they are not supporting it anymore. The only thing I found close to the SkyPro and for the same money is the Swingbyte2 or the Zepp Golf 2. I don't know about the Zepp one though, as it clips on your glove and not the club shaft, so I can't see how it can give accurate club data as it is possible to grip the club all kinds of weird ways!

I used a Zepp2 for over a year (nearly daily)..pretty much till my ipod touch stopped charging haha. It basically does a relative comparison of how your hands behave going up and coming down. It's somewhat useful for monitoring your hand and swing plane. Also, the trigger for taking swing clips was great, and eventually all I used it for. The problem with using a relative hand plane is it's really easy to get "green zone" numbers just by hand manipulation. So eventually it stopped being a very useful swing analyzer.

I liked the skypro and once you get an idea of what the biases are vs trackman, it gives you pretty accurate club data. My biggest issue, and eventually why i stopped using it, was there isn't an on off switch. You have to put it in the small charging box for it to shut off. And I found it doesn't always shutoff (guessing not seated correctly). So you would take it out and it would be out of juice.

Do you think the zepp helped? I bought one about a year ago, but broke my collarbone not long after and haven't been able to use it. I just started swing again, and tried it out today for a little bit. I'm not convinced it is the device for me yet, but I'll give it a go.

Depends what you're trying to get out of it.. If you are making plane adjustments or checking what your hands are doing on the backswing, it's the right tool. It can also help you generate more speed but you have to be careful you're not just throwing your hands to get the clubhead speed to go up. For me the must useful part was the auto video clip trimming.

Question for the people that are having success with their SkyPro, what apple phone and IOS are you using? I feel I need to buy an iphone but don't want to spend over £60. Is anyone actively using an iphone 4 with their SkyPro?
