  • Creative Golf 3D Distance Shortage

Anyone notice short distances on Creative Golf?

Going from the practice session on ST software to CG3D was a major different 10-15 yards short for all 3 of my buddies and I today.

Im sure there is some sort of boost we can use but everything was just 10 yards short, not 10%.

Is that consistent with with your experience of CG3D software?

My carry distance in ST software corresponds to the carry distance on CG3D

I found them both about 5 to 10 % short. I believe Cg3d does have a boost setting for the skytrak.

Ok! Good to know it's not just my software.

How are you guys liking CG3D? Just curious, no recent posts. CG3D launched a software update in 2018.

I didn’t mind it! I mean, graphics are not top notch, but that’s not what they were going for. It’s a legit option if you have a computer with low graphic hardware. The mini games are cool and the courses are fun.

It was perfect to hold me over for a while until I could get a new gaming PC.

Creative Golf is the only sim company that uses our flight model, so distances should match up exactly to the SkyTrak app!

I did not know that. Interesting! Makes a difference to me. If you update your models does CG incorporate them?

I wrote to CG on their software development. They indicated that they plan to release a new update in the near future, maybe by end of Feb? Some updates to the “fun games” too.

They also update old courses and are working on set 13. There is some renewed focus to add more US courses too.

Version updates are free. Sadly no promos, maybe Skytrak can get something going here with CG on buy one add-on, get one free? Or buy core and get a free add-on! I’d be a buyer, especially now that I know the flight model is 1:1 with Skytrak range.

2019 is indeed the year for Skytrak users!

        -TGC 2019
        -E6 Connect
        -Skytrak 3.4/4.0

Now add CG3D new version, the golden age of sim has arrived.

Yeah, they've got some really cool updates coming - I got a sneak peek at the PGA Show! But yes, if we make any changes to the model, we certainly pass that along.

I tried the demo last year. I am absolutely convinced that it is about 10% short compared to ST range. In fact, that was the main reason I 7ninstalled it.

The only way that could be possible is if there are differences in altitude or wind settings.

I am experiencing the exact thing about to to 15% short compered to the skytrak range distances, which is very close to my true distances . I emailed CG3D last night about this and got this response below

You can use BOOST function. Please go to MAIN MENU -> SETTINGS -> GAME SETUP -> GAME OPTIONS tab. There is BOOST editbox. 1.0 means normal distance (carry). If you want to have your shots 10% longer please set 1.1 to it.

I am also having issues with any shot just off the green, just on the fringe or pin high just in the second cut. I try a chip, flop, punch, putt and there is no response. I have to restart the hole or take a mulligan. I am still going back and forth with tech support on this.

Other than those 2 Items I'm happy with CG3D but I have only been playing it for just over a week. But compared to Optishot and P3Proswing software I have owned it plays well I think

I think that problem of short pitch shots is common throughout sims. Anything less than 10 yards seems really difficult to manage.

If you are on the edge of the green, in most cases the icon "I want to putt" appears at the bottom right. Here you switch SKYTRAK into putting mode.

If there is no response to a short shot (chip, pitch, putt) it is a SKYTRAK error that does not detect the shot.
CG3D only takes over the data that SKYTRAK sends to sim software.

My yardages match up very well with the Skytrak, I personally think Creative is excellent for simulation. I have owned 3 others and played them all and Creative is my favorite. Like other sim software it has some pro's and con's but in my opinion its very good from tee to green. I also enjoy the "fun" stuff they offer too, its a software anyone that a beginner or kids can enjoy as well... looking forward to their update.

Same here, 10 to 15% short on my drives, I've used the boost at 1.1 which made my drives more realistic but then the irons where too long so I got it down 1.07 still my irons are too long, I'm happy to hear that an update is coming soon and would like to be able to set all my clubs at they're right yardage, puts and chipp shots are ok.
