I'm in the processes of setting up a camera to record club face and ball at impact. I have a feeling I'm going to need a lot of light. Is anyone here using a light above their skytrak? Im worried the light will interfere with the Skytrak's cameras. Anyone know if something like this will work: http://www.skaeser.com/led-photograp...dome-lighting/

Light Over Skytrak.

I cannot speak to those lights specifically, but I can speak to lighting in general.
I currently have my Skytrak setup where the Protee was before. It is a temporary setup so I swapped out the Protee sensor/mat for the the Skytrak which left the lights for the sensor system still in place. There are 2 lights overhead, both are ar111 50 watt spot bulbs. I also have 24 degree flood bulbs that work equally as good. As far as I can tell Skytrak works fine with anything less than 3 hybrid (which is the 150mph ball speed issue, nothing to do with the lights)

Cool maybe something like this may be better https://www.amazon.com/d/Ceiling-Fan...+light+fixture

I have those lights and they only produce like a 20" circle at 10'. It's a perfect circle too. I do not care for them much. I use a less narrow beam but put a shield around it to keep the light spilling onto my screen. It illuminates the whole stance area.

I have tried various lights above my Skytrak - I have just moved my simulator set-up (well a new set-up really) and I have used this lamp - see below (Rab narrow spotlight). Overkill really and you need to purchase the dimmable model since it is too bright on full, but it only casts a narrow beam (meant for flagpoles) so ideal for lighting the hitting area only. It is an outside light fixture but works inside just fine. For the cost (nearly $400), I'm sure you can find something almost as good for less money.
My bigger issue is that I am getting mis-reads with my Skytrak metal case. I have to always switch back to my plastic Skytrak case (zero mis-reads) since I get too many misreads in the metal case (it is an official Skytrak case). I have tried more light, less light, etc. - nothing seems to help the mis-reads in the metal case - to solve it - I have to use the plastic case. Since this happens whether the Rab light is on full, dimmded, or fully off - tells me it is not due to light washout or insufficient light. Hope this helps!

I installed a can light above my mat with a spot LED bulb from Amazon. The can was like $20 from home depot. It's on a dimmer. I'm also in the process of setting up a few cams tomorrow so I can post some pics. The light doesn't seem to affect the St at all whether on, off or dimmed
I also have 4 really bright floods on a dimmer as well and I'll probably have to use both to capture a decent video slow mo

I had a lamp which has a goose neck and a magnetic base. The lamp is made for using in a shop on a drill press etc. Will attach to the side of housing and you use the goose neck to aim.
It's recessed a little as well. I added some sheet metal to it to recess the bulb a little more, I put a 40 watt led bulb in it and have it shining from the ceiling behind the skytrak and projector.
I attached to the overhead door rail behind me using the magnet. Works great. That's all I have on when I'm playing.

Any pics of what it looks like in in your hitting area? I’m looking for something similar, but don’t want a narrow spot, more something in between to provide clear lighting without spilling onto the projection screen.Originally posted by htdumps View PostEnded up getting this light and its amazing, no flicker on cameras https://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-100W-Ph...QAAOSwnVhaOAut
any issues with shadows from you standing over the ball with only a single light vs lighting from multiple angles

We have a similar lighting setup at our office, but we have 3 overheads. No issue at all in regards to the readings on SkyTrak. While lights shining down don't seem to present a problem, you do want to avoid shining any lights directly into the SkyTrak unit. Just think of it as if you were physically taking a picture of a person (which is in essence what we do with the ball), you don't want a light source behind the subject.Originally posted by a4chet View PostI installed a can light above my mat with a spot LED bulb from Amazon. But, the light does work as advertised - barely a 15" circle from 10' away (mounted on ceiling). Can only go about 40% on brightness - 100% washes out the entire area! Definitely could have gone less bright.
