  • Not registering +50% shots in TGC?

I could really use the communities help with set up. I ordered my Skytak last March as a Certified Refurb from Skygolf. I also bought TGC during their sale. I have finally finished my simulator room (took longer than expected!). Played my first round with my father tonight, but more than half our shots were misreads. This included having to take 4 tries on putting sometime, same with driver (I used Tomahawk tees per your guys suggestion). Skytrak is level with the bottom of the mat, I had the laser at the midpoint of the ball with white Titleist pointed at the machine. It is connected via direct USB to a PC.

I'm so disheartened after all the wait, and my Skytrak is likely out of warranty. It simply wasn't fun. Any suggestions to try?

Is sky track level overall? I think I see a bubble level on top of device. I will also say I had more consistent results using WiFi and not usb.

Your oval hitting surface does not look level at all in the 1st pic. The front looks way higher than the back. We're u trying to putt with that setup? Not sure how that will work.

And in second pic, ball is too close to skytrak, should be 11-12". Laser dot should be underneath the ball or tee

I agree with this; unless the camera angle makes the ball look closer to the SkyTrak than it really is.

For the laser dot to be so close, either the unit must be tilted forward, or the unit is lower than the mat (I think ...).

      (1) I agree with the above comment about the laser dot being in the wrong place on the ball. Try adjusting that first

      (2) If adjusting that does not work, try taking the feet off of the Skytrak box. When I first started with my skytrak, it would not pick up about 30-40% of my mid irons through drivers, as well as my putts. Then I took the feet off and it picks up about 98% of those shots with me putting the ball right on the dot or just a smidge behind the red dot.

        Some other things to try:
Take the ST out of the metal case to rule that out.
Try connecting via WiFi instead of USB - I have experienced more consistency with a wireless connection.

I'm in the process of debugging a brand new setup also. I'm not a fan of USB mode. I know it works well for some, but so far I have not been able to make it work as well as Network mode connected to a router. I suggest you first go back to the SkyTrak software and hit about 20 shots with a wedge, an iron and a driver. See what kind of consistency you see with it. Well hit shots should read. Not reason to fire up TGC until you can get ST to work in my opinion. My unit seems to miss more balls that slice off to the right. If you are getting good results with the ST software, that should help prove the unit does not have a HW problem. It is my understanding that the ST software puts less stress on your network and internet connection than TGC.

You might pay attention to what the lights are doing on the missed shots. I assume the top light turns red. If it stays red for a while but still misses the shot, I have a theory that the root cause is slow communications. If the lights stay green then the laser curtains did not get tripped. I don't know what to think about the top light that is just red for a moment and then right back to all green. That is what happens on the bulk of my missed shots.

Thank you for the replies, everyone!!!

Looking forward to trying these solutions. I had no idea about the 11-12" suggestion on distance from Skytrak. I definitely wasn't that far away. In addition, I had the laser right on the middle of the ball, not on the ground.
